Step foot just sounds wrong to me.

I've never heard of "step foot", and have lived in several regions of the country. If it exists, it must be a highly localized thing.

I'm lost.  

I hear it often and not just in my area, as I got the idea for this thread off of Heretic's about the missionary who was killed when he "stepped foot" where he shouldn't have.

“Step Foot” I’ve never heard, and I thank the lord for that.

I'm amazed that three of you have posted already that you have never heard anyone say or write that.

Grammar police wife says both are correct.

I have a tendancy to say "set foot"

Set foot, but I've definitely heard both. 

Set Foot. I also have heard both.

"Yanni".  Never heard "laurel" used before.

I've heard both but have heard "step foot" more I think.
