They just called my wife and left a message asking us when we plan to send payment. No apology for the delay. 

I know, I know, I'm not entitled to an apology. I won't request one.

So they waited 4 months to send the bill and have the balls to call you the day after you receive it asking when you plan on making the payment? Send them a check for $1 less than the bill and then send them a dollar bill in the mail with GFY written on it. Or pay in all pennies. The choice is yours.

yes. if anything you should send them more because it is money they were entitled to several months ago. money in which they could've earned interest on.

better send them $6000 to be safe.
