Thanks for all of the advice on the doorbell thread. Next up is a lawn mower. I'd estimate we have about 4000 square feet of grass at the new place. While anything beyond a cheap push mower is probably overkill, I'm somewhat intrigued with the battery-powered mowers with the line of other gadgets (trimmers, saws, etc.). All advice and/or smartass comments appreciated.
When my gas mower dies I will probably move to battery powered. What kind I have no idea, I have a Greenworks blower and trimmer currently that have held up well.
No issues with my Ryobi mower
I have a Snapper XD 82v max for my trim mower. Ive had it a couple years now.
I have a lot of Ryobi stuff. Will probably grab the battery mower when the time comes. But for now, standard gas push mower.
I bought an EGO electric mower last year and absolutely love it.
My lawn take ~ 1.0 - 1.5 hours to cut. Are there electric mowers that will last that long? If not, is 2 batteries a good option?

Zero turn = No drinks
I have a John Deere LA 130 lawn tractor, 48" mower deck. It has not one, but two convenient cup holders. :)

If you go battery, go Ryobi. Becasue the batteries are interchangeable with products. So having 2-3 is smart so always charged, but then having 2 for a mower isnt overkill since its being used for a ton of other stuff as well.

My mower battery isn't the same as my weed eater battery. Both Ryobi.

I have the weed whacker and edger (the metal one that actually edges) version and it uses the 40v. The drill is only a 18v, but that makes sense for the smaller versions. Wonder if the drill and the weed whacker you have are interchangeable?
I see the 40v weed eaters now. That battery is heavy af, I couldn't imagine using it with a weed eater.
It also looks like there might be different sizes of 40v batteries so there might be a smaller one with less capacity than the one that came with my mower.

Its heavy for sure. But I HATE the look of edging with the weed whacker. I need the actual edger to create that really perfect cut look and create the small little crack between the sidewalk -- so I put up with it being heavy haha. I then swap out the metal and use the strings/plastic for the garden beds. Thanksfully, no fence this new house, so I dont have to lug it around the entire back yard fenceline.
I need a new mower, mine was stolen late last fall (I left it out of the garage overnight so part my fault).
I always just buy the cheapest gas powered walk behind (small yard) at Walmart. It makes it a few years then I buy another.
Used to be able to get said cheap ones for like $100, now that looks like $250.
I see some battery electric for cheaper than that.
I absolutely have to buy one this weekend, how well do the battery ones cut compared to gas? Will I have to mow more often to make sure the grass doesn’t get too tall?
2 neighbors have the electric and seem to be fine when mowing as you should
I have two push mowers…3 year old main one and a 15 year old cheapo Briggs snd Stratton that is held together by zip ties and will not die. Started on the first pull 2 weeks ago.
Not looking for battery electric anytime soon but as they improve and I don’t mow a few other yards…we’ll see

No issues so far on that. This is the second season so I’ll see if I notice a drop in capacity.

We just purchased a house. About 0.75 acres. Our old yard was like 0.20 acres and that took me about 35 minutes or so to push mow.
Not looking to spend 90 minutes push mowing the new place. Figure a zero turn I can get this done in about 15-20 minutes.
Thoughts on buying new vs used?

For that size it’s a simple workload….I’d be very tempted to buy used

Bought one two years ago. I love it. We have 0.2 acres also. But ZTR much more comfortable, cut looks much better. Should last me until I die.
Depends on how "easy" your lot is, and how big You leaning toward a pro model, or one just for home use? 42" seems to be most common. Saw an EV model last year for 4K, not sure if it gives you the same power and cut.
If you buy used, get it from a reputable dealer, should give you some good years.

Yeah. We're just under an acre (.94) and it takes about 15-20 min to cut. I went with a residential Ferris b/c of the spring suspension. You can cut at full speed and not get beat up.
