When it came out (early 90s?) I thought it was the dumbest thing I had ever heard of.

I agree.

And on the Yeti thing. To each their own. I learned a side of it I hadn't heard.

Speaking of water: The fucking filter tube/cartridge on the fridge.

$50 every 6 months.

Appliance warranties

Inkjet and Laser cartridge refills

I don't think I've ever bought an appliance warranty.

Recently got a laser printer because I got tired of the stupid ink cartridges drying out and dying from lack of use.  Too many times I needed to print something and couldn't.  Cartridges in laser printer last much, much longer since it's just a dry powder.

Cable television.  Because of what our family watches (which is not much), we can't make the break yet.  But for basically 3-4 channels we use, we pay for several hundred.  When will they accept reality and go to a model where you buy only the specific channels you want?

IMHO Home Defense Spider Spray simply does not live up to the claims on the packaging.

Get streaming service. What channels do you watch?

Streaming service works great for us, but mostly b/c I use my parent's login for sports.  Take that away and I lose access to:

ESPN

Fox Sports

NBC Sports

TNT/TBS

Cable and Internet is included in our rent, so I get every channel. but if it wasn’t included, I’d scrap that shit so fast.

Right.  Just adds to the monthly bill :)  Right now we pay for: Hulu, Netflix, Prime.

10 yrs here, & agreed.

Streaming sites + bunny ears get me all the sports I need. Its funny, I'm willing to pay for streaming services of sports. Yet the streaming services are soo pathetic and crash that illegal streaming is a far superior product. EZ decision for me.

i jetted Direct TV after like 11 years for PS Vue, it's not ideal, but it's like $120/month cheaper. So I'm happy. I know it could be cheaper to do the sling or some other thing, but we are able to get everything we want through the PS4, which is a huge convenience for us.

Another vote for YETI.  I'm not saying they're not effective ... maybe even the best ... but the difference is negligible between than and Ozark Trail or Magellan, which are way cheaper.

Most name-brand electronics would fit into this camp, too, honestly.  Performance is based much more on some of the specs that virtually any manufacturer can put in a machine than it is on some proprietary secret that is exclusive to a particular brand.
