I searched to see if this thread was revived from the old site and nothing came up.  If there is a thread, just combine it.

Any podcast recommendations?    I am looking for a good history podcast.

No history recommendations, but I enjoy Rewatchables and Binge Mode from the Ringer on a regular basis.

I've also listened to both seasons of Serial, Up and Vanished, In the Dark and S-Town. I liked all of them.

I've tried to find some good history podcasts in the past and I found them either too long or them to be over produced like Radio Lab. If you find a good 40ish min one let me know.

Not sure about history podcasts, but I think you might like one or both of the following:

The Jason Stapleton Program - http://www.jasonstapleton.com/on-demand/

The Tom Woods Show - https://tomwoods.com/podcasts/

I've never gotten into the most recommended Dan Carlin because 4 hours is too long

I liked Wyman's fall of Rome.

For irrelevant topics, Mike Rowe does a 6-8 minute Paul Harvey type and The Dollops brings immense humor to past events in about an hour or so

It may not be your style, especially if you are not a fan, but Malcom Gladwell's Revisionist History isn't bad.

I really liked the Washington Post's Presidential one from 2016.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/business/presidential-podcast/

I also like their Constitutional One

https://www.washingtonpost.com/podcasts/constitutional/?utm_term=.db17c2eb86ca

I listen to a lot of the Ringer ones.

I also listen to

  • Five Thirty Eight,
  • Behind the Bets,
  • the Buffett (which is Chad Millman's new one about betting),
  • SI Media
  • James Miller's Origins, which looks at ESPN.
  • The Audible with Stew and Bruce about college football

Gladwell is extremely left, but the Revisionist are easy listens if you can get past his voice.  The McD french fry episode was great.

Oh, I agree, hence why I prefaced it. I agree that I loved the fry episode. I also enjoyed his look at higher education.

Is anyone listening to the new season of Serial? I'm getting ready to start it and have heard it's excellent.

2 episodes in. They were solid. I think they start to have multiple episode cases now, so I’ve held off so I can binge those ones.

Anyone listening to something good?

I binged Bear Brook over the summer and thought it was very well done and super interesting.

I have 2 or 3 episodes of Caliphate left. My husband and I listen together, and we're rarely in the car together for long periods of time, so it's taking forever smh. It's been pretty fascinating and I'm excited to finish it.

Villains by Shea Serrano is a fun, quick series.

I meant the Dale Jr nascar one, but I like the true crime stuff as well. 2nd season of Serial I wasn’t interested in but might have to get in to the 3rd.

hardcore history is good but it's not free. Some of it is free, but the bulk of them aren't.

Non-History Podcasts i like are JRE, TIm Dillon Show, WSJ podcasts (all of them)

I’ve always enjoyed Malcolm Gladwell as a guest on other podcasts I listen to, but never have his Revisionist History on a chance. Well, finally downloaded last week and plowed through the current season in 3 days. Fantastic stuff from one of the brightest intellectuals out there, questioning everything.

Probably finish the first 3 seasons by Thanksgiving.

A couple weeks ago, Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey started a podcast called 'Office Girls' where each week they break down an episode from The Office and give their insights, tidbits, etc from that particular episode. I'm looking forward to them getting into seasons 2, 3, 4 and I think the basketball episode is next week. It's good, but holy fuck is Angela Kinsey annoying.

Started listening to twisted history (Large from barstool), and it is pretty entertaining. Someone before mentioned a true crime podcast with a focus on Ohio, anyone remember it?

Edit: nvm I found it using search. True Crime Garage.

Anyone else listening to anything new?

I've been listening to Monster: DC Sniper. It's decent.

It was released a few months ago, but there was a Podcast called Winds of Change. It dealt with the crazy theory that maybe the CIA wrote the Scorpions song Winds of Change.

It was pretty entertaining.

I've also been listening to Michael Lewis's Against the Rules. It is from the same studio as Gladwell.

I've been getting a bunch of ads for Behind the Bastards: The Man Who Teaches Our Cops to Kill. I've never listened to one of their eps, but obviously that one has piqued my interest.
