Holy shit. We know these people down the street (4 houses down). The male is 60+ and was a soap opera star. His new interest is 30ish and looks like a drug addict but at one point did yoga for the neighboring women. Anyway, today she apparently threatened to commit suicide (I assume) and 20 cop cars came and destroyed traffic right outside our house (had to pick up kids from daycare). It was fucking nuts and they took her away in an ambulance. Any other good stories?

Years back, a single girl bought a house across the street and a couple doors down. She drove a really sharp yellow corvette. She did porn movies. She doesn't live there anymore.

End of rant.

I don’t have any interesting neighbors. But at least none of them are annoying.

All our neighbors are great, except one. They don’t “bother” me, but just assholes. Our next door neighbors are gay, the ones a house down and across the street from them are very Christian. When they found out a gay couple was living close by, they erected a giant cross and put up sinners will burn in hell or some random shit and then a reference to laying with same sex. They put it up the entirety of Easter season/lent and Christmas season. It’s angled directly to the gay couples house.

Unrelated, but they have 7 kids and homeschool(ed) all of them. And as you can imagine, they turned out kinda of peculiar— at least from a distance, observing. I’ve never spoken directly to anyone in the family.

I have 3.5 acres and have 7 abutting neighbors.  I dislike/very much dislike 5 of them. The 2 I like are kind of on the edge, though. I’ve learned that neighbors like to encroach on my property.  I even had a lawsuit filed against me for “squatter’s rights”.  I won.

Laley23: Sounds like you have an interesting neighborhood.

Up to about 6 months ago my neighbor across the street was the only person in the world to have intercepted Joe Burrow 2x in one game.

He’s still the only person but has since moved

I live close to a main interstate,  one night the they had our whole neighborhood locked down and state patrol search helicopters flying around for an hour looking for a felon that had a high speed chase that ended by my hiuse

Neighbor across the street last summer intentionally ran over/hit his wife in the driveway  with this truck during an argument (no serious injury, but still....). Our next door neighbors apparently witnessed the whole thing.

They are still together and living across the street. Things must have worked out somehow.

About 18 years ago, I was sitting in my computer room (remember those?), and looked out the window to find about a dozen cop cars taking up my entire cul de sac. Numerous cops get out with their guns drawn. Mind you this is a very safe and friendly neighborhood full of mostly military and elderly couples. My attention was immediately focused on my neighbor that lived two doors down. He comes out of his house, completely covered in blood and holding a knife. After being told by the police multiple times to drop the knife and get on the ground, he chose a different approach. After charging at the cops, I see the police fire on him multiple times and he hits the ground. About 3 seconds later, he gets back up and charges again, only to be shot again. He laid dead about 3 feet from my truck in the driveway. Apparently, he was high on something and decided to stab his wife multiple times. The neighbor behind them was in his back yard and heard the screams, which prompted him to call the police. I was the only civilian witness to the police shooting, so I had to be interviewed. It was crazy!

Nothing to do with neighbors, but when I was 18 or 19 years old I was witness to what today is described as a "mass shooting". I walked out of a nightclub just in time to see a guy in a shooting stance firing a handgun into a group of people who were rolling around on the parking lot.

As the story goes, two young police officers had called off "sick" for the night and went out on the town instead. Evidently they'd gotten into some sort of physical altercation with a group of 4 or 5 guys and were getting the worst of it when the guy was able to break free and start shooting. I think he hit 3, maybe four, none fatally.

Anyhow, someone must have seen something brewing before I saw what I saw and called the police because (it seemed) within seconds there were more cops there than I had ever seen in one place.

Those two were punished in some fashion, and remained on the force.

End of rant.

The rant part is because she doesn't live there any more, right?

Many years ago our divorced next-door neighbor married a nice lady, who moved in, along with her 4 grandchildren she'd adopted when her children became abusive parents.  Kids were close to our sons' ages, all in grade school.  Those kids had seen some serious stuff before arriving there, but they were pleasant, and we got along well.  And my neighbor had an addition built to add a few more bedrooms,

Turned out two of the kids were plotting to kill the older couple and their two siblings, burn the house down, and make a run for it.   Apparently school officials got wind of it, the two kids were placed under arrest, the other two kids moved into protective custody.  Last we ever saw of them.  Our neighbor and the lady divorced not too long after.

Was thankful I'd always treated those two kids nice, but I shuddered to think what they might of done to our family.

Something like 7, 8, 9, and 11.    The middle two were the ones planning the caper.
