Inflation/supply chain price increase check-in

Getting ready to order dog food and the price increases are insane.

We used to regularly pay $35 for a 27.5lb bag on Chewy (as of November 2021). We had to order more food in January and they were sold out of the usual flavor, so we switched to a different flavor of the same brand ($45, 25lb bag). They are still sold out of the original flavor, but the price is now listed at $45 (up $10). And the $45 we paid in January for the new flavor is now $51.

Where are you seeing a noticeable difference?

Everything at the Kroger down the street was creeping up.  $150 worth of groceries will easily be $200 soon

Everything.

Beef is close to double in price. That is when you can find a decent supply in stock. Went to Walmart yesterday and absolutely no chicken. We're going to Whitefeather Meats on Saturday and stocking up on the good stuff (grassfed).

Not only has the wet food we buy for the cats jumped, I noticed there's less in the cans.

I can't believe people are paying $80k for a new car with a $60k sticker.  I guess when it's only $200 more per month payment they don't really give a shit, given how financially illiterate the average person is.

Yeah I’m really happy to not be in the market for needing a new car (knock on wood), house, or someplace to rent.

Told the family today that the amount of money spent this year is going to be about zero.  Everyone wants a Florida vacation….. doesn’t seem like a good idea.

I haven’t used a delivery service like Chewy in a while. We’ll do Instacart but even that is once every few months. I bet a lot of these services especially will have to jump in price because of gas.

I don't doubt it, but the food is the same price at Walmart and it's even more at PetSmart.

My wife has been complaining about our grocery bill. I was going with her there for a few weeks and it was hit or miss. You could get a decent price on pork, but beef was stupid high and there was no chicken.

Good luck. It seems to be super crowded lately with very long line wait times.

Got an email yesterday that Daycare is raising their tuition, so that’s fun with 2 in there.

Bags of ice at the grocery store now only have 7 pounds in it (instead of 10) for the same price. Sports drinks are more expensive, when they even have them in stock.

Normally when I go I need to get wet/dry food/litter for the cats and food for the dog. I've been getting the cat food, minus litter, through Chewy. This past weekend I just had to get litter. Normally groceries fall between $125-150 for the week without those items. I haven't been getting anything more or out of the ordinary and it's consistently been over $200/wk for a while now.

I took my lady to a retro candy place (BA Sweeties) up in Brookpark last weekend. One of her favorites (BB Bats) had been discontinued due to supply chain issues.

Went to grocery today. Granted didn’t purchase any alcohol, but it was only $160. I’m usually over that and closer to $200. Didn’t notice anything out of stock this time (though items have been the last few months).

Knowing that fury that gas prices cause, wouldn't this be close to #1 on your list (as a government official who can maybe do something about it) to do whatever you can (in your power) to bring these down?

Why would this administration, that's been pushing electric vehicles/green technology, gaf if gas prices drop? This is playing right into their hands.

Went to Kroger this morning and got just about everything I needed. The kind of yogurt my daughter likes was completely out of stock. Prayers requested.
