If you could expat anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Germany would be probably be my choice of places I visited. Sweden had good looking women, but if you come from the midwest where everyone is friendly, Sweden is an eye opener how unfriendly people are. Plus the darkness in winter is horrible. I only spent day trips in England and Italy and France so it was hard to tell. Germany was clean and good food and beer so I pick Germany.

I'd probably pick somewhere in Italy. Have been to Europe a good amount of times and it always has seemed like the best place with food and culture. Florence would be cool, or maybe on the coast like in Cinque Terre.

Tough question, hard to pinpoint one location. It would definitely be in Europe due to quick access to so many other places. I'd love to give London or Paris a shot.

If work/money is not a necessity, I’d choose tropical. But if you still have to be part of a working society I’d stay in Europe. And like I said, Italy or Paris

Of the places I've been, probably Aruba or Turks and Caicos, but I loved Bonaire and Curacao, too.

Czech Republic is probably the only place in Europe I'd want to live. At the very least, the list would be extremely short and it Czech Republic would be near the top.

Key word is expat. When I think of that term, work/career is involved. Tropical would be nice, but I would want to advance my career.

This was my first thought. Second was Bora Bora.

Then I just remembered how beautiful the scenery was in Costa Rica.

I am with you in Aruba and Curaçao. Both absolutely beautiful.

T and C was nice but I liked the above two better.

Never been to Bonaire, pictures make it look a lot like Curaçao.

But really it's just anyone living outside of their native country right?
For any reason.

Costa Rica sounds like a good choice.

Come to think of it, "The Falcon And The Snowman" has been showing on TV a lot this month.

All interesting choices posted here.  I'd go with Israel, mostly in Jerusalem.  The excavations that have gone on there in the last 35 years since I visited last are mind-blowing.  Great food choices.  Not exactly Middle-Eastern cuisine, but I had some of the best pizza ever in Tel Aviv.

That's how I intended it. Work, retirement, whatever.

My wife and I are planning on going to Costa Rica in the next year or so. Mostly because we've heard great things from everyone that has ever been there, but also to check it out as a possible retirement spot.

Very similar. The beaches aren't as soft/sandy, but it has some of the best snorkeling on the planet.

I'd go to Europe. I love it there. Don't really care. Somewhere with an awesome soccer culture.

Preferences are: Northern Ireland (great friends there) and Slovakia (motherland).

Was there for my honeymoon. 12 days. It was 2-5 days too long. There is NOTHING to do there. Amazing for a honeymoon, but even that I’d suggest a week and then Tahiti on the bookend days of it.

Italy for me.  Although as I get older and healthcare starts to become an issue, maybe Germany....or Toronto, if that counts!
