So we’re staying at the in laws cabin in Kentucky for a few days. The alarm went off tonight right around 3:30. It’s been 2 hours because the alarm company sucks and didn’t have the gate code to the neighborhood even though they also manage the gate security. Still no police and the alarm system is still detecting movement outside just beyond where the camera can see.
With no firearms here we have learned we need a new security company and to keep some firearms on the property. From where the movement is happening my guess is copper thieves thinking they are hitting an unoccupied vacation home.

We have four but they don’t get the sides of the house. Police finally showed up it looks like they were trying to do something to two of the a/c units. There was dew on the ground so the police said they could see tracks all around the AC units and into the woods. Not sure how long they were there could have been a short time and they got scared of the alarm or ran when cops came.

Hounds. Always get hounds.
We are trying to convince them to get one they have always had big dogs like Mastiffs so they would bring some fear

I’d recommend either a flood light or one of the new cameras that are integrated with a flood light. Seems to keep people away well. Otherwise, shoot them.

I'm considering either ADT (monthly fee) or some other service where you buy the equipment, but don't pay the monthly. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I had Vivent when we lived in Columbus. They gave us all the equipment free for signing a 4 year contract. They replaced anything that broke fast and for free also upgraded us to the latest equipment for free a couple times over the 5 years. We had a doorbell camera, keypad locks, and a smart thermostat thru them. It was really easy to use and nice to control thru our cell phones. Also when you sign up call your home insurance as it qualifies for a discount most of the time.

What was the monthly cost?
