Saw this question posed on another forum. What say you?

I'm going with the tried and true grilled cheese and tomato soup. Cheap, easy, delicious. Nothing fancy.

That is def a classic one. My favorite that I don’t get enough of is lobster bisque with the hard bread on the side.  Bravo in Columbus is my fave spot for it. I must also mention the most underrated soup around imo is the broccoli cheddar soup at Panera

Had potbelly's soup and sandwich combo today for lunch...italian sandwich and baked potato soup. Was delicious.

If i'm buying soup at the grocery store, it's almost always either campbell's bean n bacon or chunky chicken noodle soup.

If you love pho, I recommend trying bun bo hue if you ever see it on the menu.  It also goes well with banh mi.

Any good places in DC you'd recommend? Will be there and able to explore a bit the Saturday before Memorial Day.

If I am only allowed one more for my whole life, I agree. Going with the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Basil soup.

For pho?  Absolutely.  The only correct answer is Pho Viet DC http://www.phovietwdc.com/.   My wife and I were just in Vietnam this past October and Pho Viet DC is as close as it gets to being as good as eating it in Vietnam imo (other than the pho you could get in the west coast).  Their lemongrass pho pwns and if you go don't even think about it, get the lemongrass pho. It's a no frills hole in the wall place, but they are always busy and they get people in and out.  It is in NW DC and it's not in a touristy area, but it's worth going to.  There are also several other restaurants in that neighborhood worth going to eat.

If you are looking for other recommendations just PM me, I have a ton.

Edit: spicy lemongrass pho #11 to be exact.

Whenever I make chicken noodle soup I always make grilled honey ham/brick cheese. For whatever reason those flavors work very well all together.

this is my #1, i've also recently experienced a grilled cheese restaurant that does some elaborate grilled cheese concoctions that would really step this up.

another good one is a Chris' Special Po' Boy and a good chicken and sausage gumbo.

Hard to beat a grilled cheese and tomato soup. I've started making my grilled cheese with two slices of Swiss and one slice of Monterrey Cheddar, delicious.

I have always been a huge fan of peanut butter OR peanut butter and pickle with a bowl of chili. Was always a staple at grandma and granddad's house during deer season. Brings back good memories.

How was Vietnam? It's on the list of places I want to go. My old man thinks I'm crazy, but he was there under different circumstances lol

Amazing, you definitely should go.  Everything is so cheap too, you can live like a king.

A lot of older people had the same reaction when we said we were going and I can obviously understand why.  Imagine if Iraq, Afghanistan, etc become trendy tourist attractions in 20-30 years.  We all would look at this young people and be like WTF?  Especially for anyone who has been deployed over there.

I'll eat bread maybe 10 times a year.  Therefore it has to be something special like Akron Lockview Goat Cheese and Tomato soup
