Hit the clutch or shift into neutral, and get off the road. Then shut off the engine.

In my Jeep?

Drive about 15 miles until it runs out of gas.

In all other cars, neutral.

First I'd try unsticking the pedal with my toe.  If that doesn't work.........

Actually "neutral first" is a good reminder.  My first instinct might be to turn off the ignition, forgetting the steering is going to lock.  Although on a straightaway you could probably still brake while having some play in the steering to correct a bit.

No arabs in my area.....

I know its easy for us to think of it but neutral was my very first reaction. NOt sure why someone didnt tell him that over the phone as he called into dispatch.
