Facebook Marketplace

Anyone ever try to sell stuff on Facebook Marketplace? I'm currently trying to sell an old Nikon DSLR and it's been incredibly frustrating. Facebook makes it extremely easy to ask if an item is still available or to say you're interested, you just have to click a button and it sends a message automatically. I can't count the number of "conversations" that have gone like this:

Potential buyer: "Is the item still available?"/"I am interested in the item"
Me: "Yes, it's still available."/"The camera is still available."
Potential buyer: radio silence

I put in the sale ad that my price is firm, so of course I got several people offering me less than my asking price. I also listed out every single item included, and had pictures of everything include. Got a great message a few minutes ago: "What's included?" Read. The. Goddamn. Ad.

Have you ever tried offerup or letgo?  I have had more success with those apps.

Never heard of them, I'll check them out. Thanks for the heads up.

My wife seems to have luck on the Mom swap groups where there are rules to buying things (first person in line, no negotiating, etc).

I'm in a few buy, sell, trade groups which have worked out well for me. I've never used the marketplace, though.

Letgo seems to be better here.

Craigslist has the same issues and eBay takes far too big of a cut (plus I don't want to ship a camera and lenses).

Well, I would probably ignore that, too...especially if it had been for sale for a while.  People have gotten so used to bidding and haggling that even if they know what "firm" means, it probably doesn't register.

I guess the lesson there is always expect to sell something for less than what you ask.  If you're firm at $250, then you should have asked for $275.

I guess, but I was getting those offers within an hour of listing it. That said, I just ignore any offer that isn't my asking price. Also, you stalking me? My ad is listed for $250.

Everything is negotiable. But, yeah, just ignore the offers if they aren’t what you want.

I suppose I can see someone offering $225 on a firm $250. The offers of $100 are the ones that really annoy me.

Ha!  Complete guess on what I'd ask for a decent used DSLR.  I suppose you priced it right...I did think when I posted that it would be funny if that was you're asking price.

I am banned from marketplace.  I have never even been on there, but I guess there was a glitch where a lot of people were banned a few years back and you have to jump through hoops to get it straightened around.  So basically....marketplace sucks just like facebook does.
