Did you go to Private or Public schools?

Private, both elementary and hs--and we sent our kids to both as well. Our main reason, of course, was that we felt that since we lived in Toledo (and not a suburb), they would get a better education, because, well...TPS sucks.

That being said, we here in the Toledo area have wonderful public schools in Perrysburg, Maumee, Anthony Wayne, Sylvania, etc, so that could've have been an option had we lived in one of these towns.

Grew up in south Toledo - Springfield schools.  Sent me to private grade school and I had the choice for high school and followed my friends to St Johns.

For my kids I would like to take adavantage of strong public schools covered through property taxes so we built a home in Perrysburg and will use their public schools.

Our kids had their choice of any of the parochial high schools in Toledo, so my two daughters went to CCHS and my son went to SJJ (I went to SFS and my wife went to Sylvania)...btw, great choice with your move—Perrysburg schools are top notch.

Public and my 2 sons public as well. Newark City Schools were not that bad when I went and when the kids went. If I had kids starting school now I might reconsider but would probably still go with public.

Public for me, private for my wife. She's already hellbent on our daughter going private, which Idk why. It didn't really do her any favors.

Public for me.

Kiddo is in public. We looked at privates but his school made some major changes.

My wife and I both went to public schools. Finding an area with good public schools when we move next will be important for us. I don't see us ever wanting to send our kids to private.

My partner is a public school teacher that went to a $40k a yr private school in fucking Mountain View/Palo Alto (one of the wealthiest cities in the country).

That's obscene.  But there's also a huge gulf between "waste of money" and "public shithole".  And I think it's all pretty much the same up until 7th grade, maybe even 9th.  Smart kids will excel anywhere, but they will have more opportunities and advance further in better high schools - a lot of kids today starting college as sophomores.

I don't think one needs to pay a premium for private schools....HOWEVER, living in a good public school district likely means more expensive housing and higher property taxes.  If you have 1 or 2 kids, private schools might make more sense.  If you have 3 or 4 or more kids, then moving might make more sense.

Wife and I went to public schools...as did our children.

Very good suburban Columbus district and, frankly the privates around us are not as good academically as the publics.

Private elementary.  Public secondary.

Given the school district we're in, I'll do whatever I have to for our kids to go to a private school.
