Who in the hell writes a check in a supermarket???

Not only does this lady writes the check but she then records and balance ... My ice cream melting, do the math in your car...

Does any use their check book anymore out in public?

I write 5 checks a month

IRS, Electric, Gas, Cable and Utilities.... I like to screw with them. If the bill is for example $157.27 I make out for  for $160.00. or I will just round it up to $158.00

That right I pay the IRS monthly for back taxes. Me and the IRS have a settlement arrangement. I pay half of what they said I should pay, charge me not interest and will clean the record within 5 years...  Win/Win

I'm returning a face palm back at you! :-)

I write just a couple of checks a month.  I've probably only seen one person write a check at the grocery store in the last year. (and it was a little old lady, just like Belly's experience)

We might write a dozen checks over the course of a year, but I'd guess it's less than that on average.

I can narrow this down to one demographic....old ladies.

My girlfriend's mom, who's about 70, still pulls this shit. I tell her "get a god damn debit card....people want to kill you when you do that shit."

Only time I send out a check is if it's a one time bill or a very large balance. Other than that, it's all e-pay.

I don't write many checks anymore.   A few years ago my old landlord would only accept rent via check.  He forgot to deposit a check one time and finally deposited 4 months later. Pissed me off.

This kinda happened to me a few months ago. My gf writes the check each month and the one time I wrote our rent check, the fucking office assistant threw it away. They usually deposit check every day starting on the 1st-5th(grace period), and it was the 4th and hadn’t done it yet. I was furious. Luckily, the office manager knew something was up because she hadn’t received our check and called us. But I had to go through the cancelling process with the bank and all that. They didn’t charge me the fee, but the office manager said they would have reimbursed me if they did.

Other than that, I write 1 check to the city of Delaware for my taxes. They won’t let me pay online for some stupid shit.

Checks only for legal purposes (buying a house, voided for direct deposit, etc.)

I don't write any single check regularly (although my bank mails a few out automatically each month).  Usually when I need to write a check it's because they want to charge a processing fee for a credit card and/or account debit.  Taxes - that's the big one I usually pay with a check, although I have done electronic debit.
