World's first hyper-hybrid roller coaster.   Anyone heading up to Cedar Point?  Opens this week.

WTF is a hyper hybrid? Sounds like a marketing BS term to me. Coaster looks ok.

Believe it has to do with being made of both metal and wood.

I rode this Tuesday night at the passholder soft opening for frontier land.  Reminded me of the Maverick with lots of quick turns and multiple little hills that pull you out of your seat.  There is only a seat belt and a lap bar that goes over your thighs.  Nothing to hold on to really and nothing over your shoulders for the inversions.

SV is all steel track, SOB was wood except the loop.

Remind me, are you an engineer?  I ask because you would most likely understand better than I, but I believe the stress of the wood caused the fracture and failure of SOB

I am an engineer, but I am a chemical engineer, not a civil, mechanical, or structural engineer. I had to take one "structural" class called statics, but things aren't allowed to move in statics class...so roller coasters are out of my wheel house.

Got a chemical question, I am your man, got a steel/wood structural question I would have no idea (unless you want to talk about the chemical properties of the wood/steel, their melting points, temperatures at which they will go through phase changes and lose strength, etc...).

Love CP.   Back in the day I'd be all over this but getting old sucks.    I get extremely dizzy and sick on these things now.....thinking vertigo
