Cast iron cookware

Anyone else use cast iron for cooking? How do you all season your skillets? I've got a skillet (cheap-o Lodge) that is going on a decade old and the seasoning is starting to wear off. I'm not sure what I've been doing wrong, but it's looking pretty bad. I had to re-season it a few years ago after someone watching our house while we were on vacation basically let it soak and it hasn't been the same since.

I normally just apply some olive oil and wipe it around, but mine aren't a decade old.

I've got some older cast iron from my grandmother, and by older I'm talking 60+ years old, and it's perfect. I'm guessing the quality is different as the old stuff has a very smooth surface and the Lodge is a little rough.

I have a Lodge cheapo one too, but I like it.  I feel like cooking bacon on it gives it a good reseasoning, and you can bake it back on too. I try to rinse it off immediately after use, only scrape bits off with a wooden spoon, and then I put it back on the stove to dry and then rub Crisco onto it.  At first I had problems with it but it has been good lately.

I either do EVOO or bacon for the skillet.  EVOO for the dutch.

Did you know the majority of EVOO is not pure and up to 40% seed oils?

This.

I want to get into more cooking with cast iron.  My first time using it was just a couple months ago.  Best damn steak I've ever had.
