I don’t like knowing that people working grocery stores, dollar stores, carry out, etc., are making less than those on unemployment.
It is essentially improper to pay people more on unemployment than they were earning while employed. The benefit should have been capped at prior average weekly earnings.
Yes. They should have been paid their normal rates, not more. But the government is a bunch of incompetent morons. They should have let the employers pay them and then give them money or forgive taxes or something.
Right. It wasn’t very well thought out.

Always good to have a spell check that does not contribute.
I'd agree that people losing their jobs via COVID should have gotten what they were getting instead of this fancy formula. According to Ohio unemployment rules, it's what? Half your base salary plus that bonus $600 per check? Doing the math, that'd mean the break-even point would be $1200/week salary, which is $62+K per year. I would guess that if you took all the people placed into unemployment, there would be far more getting more money to do nothing than there would be taking that cut. Nice bonus if you can get it, I guess, but seems wasteful and unnecessary.

All of this is correct.
Congrats by the way.
I can see this coming but no politician will address this now......
What happens next year when these people do their taxes ... I have to pay the IRS how much... what a surprise this will be.
