"Apple Music surpasses 60M users, according to SVP Eddy Cue; up from ~50M in April; Apple reportedly has more subscribers than Spotify in the US, but Spotify has 100M worldwide - Link"

This surprised me, I don't know a single person that uses Apple Music. Who uses it? Am I missing out?

I use it.  I picked it before spotify.  Not that I like Apple Music more.  I just picked it first.  Also, in NW Ohio, it seems like Apple users are the very heavy majority.

I use Amazon Music. Wonder how many use Apple because they just sign up for it unknowingly when they get their iPhone?

I use Amazon Music. We pay for the family plan which my mom shares. I'm switching to iphone in September but don't see using Apple music when I do.

We have family plan (Apple), and pay ~$16 per month for it.  What are cost comparisons?  Why do others choose Amazon and Spotify in relation?

Which Music Streaming Service Is Best?

In general terms, Amazon Music Unlimited, Apple Music, and Spotify Premium offer the same underlying features. These include on-demand music and the ability to download songs for offline listening. From there, each provides unique extras worth considering.

Amazon Music Unlimited is an excellent choice for Amazon Prime subscribers because of the extra discount it provides. Hardcore Amazon Alexa users can also benefit from selecting this service.

By contrast, if your world revolves around Apple products, Apple Music is probably the one for you. One of the most significant advantages of going this route is that Apple Music automatically merges your streaming content with what you’ve purchased from iTunes. This feature is a big deal if you’re looking to expand your current library across multiple devices.

Spotify Premium, meanwhile, is the best service for music discovery. This fact is an important point to consider if you’re the type of person that appreciates finding new music and artists.

As you can see, all three premium music streaming services have their advantages. You should pick the best music streaming service for you. Our advice: take advantage of the free trials to determine which service is right for you!

I used it for the free month. The UX sucks. Spotify destroys it.

We use Amazon because it's convenient on all of our Alexa devices. It also works with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Spotify because, personally their algorithm for suggestions and playlists is spot on. Also Google home compatible and shared playlists are nice.

We have Spotify Premium and I love it. The Discover Weekly playlist it makes for me every week has at least 5-10 songs I really enjoy. The other playlists it builds based on my listening habits are all spot on.

I use Spotify premium and am a big fan. I have no Apple products and don't plan to ever use it.

Also use Spotify | Family plan $14.99 a month. Had no idea so many ppl used Amazon Music either. Interesting to hear that this space is more varied than I imagined.

I was using Amazon Music Premium, or whatever the pay version is called, for a while but just got sick of paying for it(we don’t have Prime). So I cancelled the pay version. I used Apple Music when it first came out for the free trial period. I’m good with just streaming a station and commercials don’t really bother me. I might at some point subscribe to a pay version again.

I don't use any music service. If I did use one I'd probably go with Amazon just for the prime discounted price. I am not surprised there are that many people who use Apple Music. Seems like it would be very convenient for iphone users.

Use Apple Music and find it works for me pretty well. Tried Spotify first at the behest of the offspring, but didn't love the UI.

So I just recently realized that Apple Music is the only service that will let you stream on the Apple Watch with a cellular connection. Pretty ridiculous.

Spotify supposedly streams most of their music at 320kbps, so there's that.  Apple doesn't disclose what their quality is, although most people think it's between 192-256kbps.

I haven't used Apple music, but the cool thing about Spotify is that many artists have a radio of similar artists, or a separate playlist of their 40-50 best songs.

We don't have a general music thread?

Anyway, Tool dropped their entire discography today on all streaming platforms. Didn't think it would ever happen. Joy!!

Holy shit!  I knew that they were dropping a new album, but didn't realize they'd all be available on streaming now.  Awesome!
