Any Pittsburgh Chatterers?

I'm mulling a prospective Job Offer that would take me out of the OKC area and put me back east in the Pittsburgh area. On paper, it's a slightly better job for me, however the relocation is a little weak and I'll stand to lose about $30K in equity on closing costs that aren't being reimbursed. My question is of the folks here that live in the Pittsburgh area, what are your thoughts? What areas of town should a guy focus on for a home? Any pros/cons you could lend would be appreciated. Things I'm not considering that you have dealt with. Fun things to do with family?

Some added background here, we are a family of 4, 9 yr old and 6 yr old kids, so schools are important. The job is in Southpointe (Canonsburg) and we are sort of suburban/country centered people (not looking for metro living).

Damn, that would make the decision an easy one for me. What are the reasons for even considering it?

Sick mom and MIL, chance to work closer to family that I've never had before (moved away to Wyoming out of school and bounced around the Southern/Western US since then). Technically the job is for more money (though not a huge amount of money) than what I currently make. Final reason is a general unhappiness with my current work situation.

I was thinking that you would have more buying power moving, surprised that Pittsburgh was above OKC for cost of living, but apparently it is food and transportation (what does that mean?  gas prices? Airline cost? public transit?) cost, housing is much cheaper in western PA

Cost of Living Indexes Oklahoma City Pittsburgh
Overall 87 88
Food 89 101
Housing 70 61
Median Home Cost $129,300 $112,700
Utilities 93 97
Transportation 99 108
Health 96 95
Miscellaneous 98 99

Took the job. Just waiting for all the pre-employment stuff to clear before setting a start date, quitting here and starting that process.

First job I've ever quit. Feels like shit.

Not easy, I am sure; hang in there, and good luck with the new opportunity.

Good luck! I wouldn't worry about it too much, just a part of life. Don't think that they wouldn't get rid of you for a second if they had to.

Hopefully your salary can afford to purchase a couple rape whistles.
