My wife and I might be relocating for her job. We live in Columbus currently but would be moving to the Akron area. My wife is from Hudson but I know very little about the area. What areas would you recommend we Would be looking to buy a house. Our budget would be about 500k max.

We’re a married couple in our mid 30s with no children. We enjoy eating at local restaurants and visiting breweries.

For 500k, you can live like a king in Akron.

It depends on where you'll both be working, but Hudson would obviously be a good choice. Personally, I'd avoid any area that would require you to take Route 8 during your morning or evening commute. It's regularly a nightmare.

Lots of good restaurants and breweries around. Thirsty Dog, Hoppin Frog, R Shea, HiHO, Akronym, Lock 15.

I love living here. To me, one of the best parts is being a 40 minute drive to Cleveland in addition to all there is locally.

I live in Green just south of Akron and work in Akron. The commute in from the south is much better than from the north.

I think her office would be in the fairlawn area.

As nice as Hudson is, I would avoid Hudson if I had to drive to fairlawn everyday for work. Like Fab said above, Rt 8 is a nightmare.

Best spot from there would be Bath Township, its actually where Lebron's house is/was when he played for the Cavs.

If you don't mind a 20-30 min commute to fairlaw then the Green and Jackson (North Canton) areas are nice.

I would look at Bath first if you can find a nice house in that price range first.

I'd agree with Bath Township, or one of the communities off S Hametown or 18, like Miller's Farm.

We love going to the Fairlawn area for shopping and dining. It’s only a 30 minute drive from our place.
