So I just finished watching the HBO documentary on the case.  I also understand there was a pretty popular podcast about it a few years ago called Serial that I have not watched.  I am really torn on this one.  One thing I am for certain is that our legal system in this country sucks.  There is Zero physical evidence tying him to this murder.  Over half of the evidence used against him in his first trial has turned out to be basically not true.  Even more disappointing is that in our legal system it takes 10-15 years to see a courtroom if you are wrongly convicted, and then even in the face of very compelling evidence and the fact that you had terribly ineffective legal council, 99% of appeals side with the state.

Coupled with that fact that many felony defendents have legal council that handles 50 cases a week.  Each one of these cases probably should have hundreds or thousands of hours devoted to them and instead get just a few hours.  Once a conviction is on the records you are basically screwed even when evidence shows you didnt do it.  Im still 50/50 on this case, but at minimum he needs a new trial to figure it out, there certainly is reasonable doubt.

Listened to the podcast on a drive to Key West 2 years ago. It was really good and seemed to push me towards not being able to say "guilty beyond a reasonable doubt".  I'd like to see the HBO documentary to see if there is any new information. I vote not sure though.

The podcast is 10000x better than that HBO documentary. It flips your opinion basically every episode. Hell, it flips Sarah Koenig (narrator/investigator) of the podcast a few times.

I vote guilty, but had I been on jury no way could I have done anything but not guilty. Just not enough to sway me beyond a reasonable doubt.

I think he probably did it, but had I been on the jury, I would have said not guilty.

I have to agree with that.  I think he did it no one else really had a motive,  AND the cops also did a lot of shady stuff to make sure he got convicted. Then 5 minutes later i think have doubts....  I am going to do the podcasts this summer when school gets out.

We listened to the podcast a few years ago. I would not have been able to vote guilty based on the evidence presented.
