The 80s were pretty early for me, but a lot of the cool stuff from the 80s carried over into the 90s for me. Nothing was better than TMNT and Masters of the Universe.

I was born in '79, so the 80s cartoons like He-Man was a big one for me as well.

3 point line in HS came into play. Remember the BB coach at lunch one day when we were shooting hoops measure to where the line would be!
I have 20-30 of the original Transformers in boxes. I had a guy offer me 5k for all of them. The memories are worth more that the toys at this point.

I think a lot of people today don't realize that that was NOT the gold medal game. Because it was round robin format, the US still had to win one more (against Finland) to win the gold.
I just found this from an article at sportingnews.com:
“Had the United States not climbed out of a 2-1 hole entering the third period of that game against Finland 36 years ago, it not only would have lost the gold medal, but let the Soviet Union win its fifth straight.”

ESPN had a great special on about this last night.
USSR: 40 SOG. USA: 10.
Puck possession: USSR had it 3+X longer than the US.
I think they said in the last 3 decades of the NHL, only 1 time has a team with 10 or less SOG won a game hwen their opponent had 30+ SOG.
USSR dominated this game in every aspect but the most important.
Many dont know that Al Michael's did Reds games before Marty. 700WLW had him on last week talking about it and his famous 'do you believe in miracles' line.
If we do not win that next game and get gold I doubt we ever talk about this.

When I think of 1980's nostalgia, it's typically the first five years of that decade, seen through rose-colored glasses. The music, the hair, the clothes, MTV, etc. USA Today. The "personal computer" becoming an actual thing. And I almost bought a DeLorean when there was a local consignment sale in 1983. Always wondered how that would have worked out.

I was born in 84, so I don't remember too much of the 80s outside of the cartoons listed. I loved TMNT and Transformers.
But, pop culture wise, I jokingly have said that this speech ended the Cold War:
I'll die on this hill though, I think the 80s in total was the worst decade in music compared to the 60s, 70s, and 90s.
The synthesizer, the hair, outfits, cheesy snare drums, and horrible hair bands were trash.
