So Trump mocked Warren's official campaign announcement by referencing the "Trail of Tears"

I always laugh when progressives write an article trying to make a point about inequality/hardship, and are completely oblivious that they are validating criticisms of conservatives/economists. Article about Finland's universal income experiment (early findings show no impact on unemployment, but but but it's "more complicated than that").
Towards the end is a story about a woman who talks about buying better groceries and being able to go out for dinner occasionally. Then she cries about the "huge paycut" when the benefit was taken away. In other words, she got a handout, started living less frugally and then it was a shock to her to adjust when the handout was taken away.

I liked it when he told Chairman Nadler that Nadler’s time had expired; that was pretty damn good.

What he said there was planned as a media moment. Instead of the media actually talking about content of the hearing,,,,,they reported on that. Deflection at its finest
IIham Omar getting hammered by her own party for continuing to talk about Jews. I know we already talked about it, but who votes for these freaks.

When cultural Marxists and ‘educators’ continually hammer away at the mantra to not be judgmental, we end up where we are. We were gifted with a brain and a conscience for the purpose of making judgments, and we better start making them before it is too late.

It occurs to me, after all these hearings going back to the Obama years, no one is held in contempt...no one loses their pension, much less their job.
So I'm not sure what "oversight" Congress really provides. They don't seem to have the power to hold people accountable. At times I can see why people act like Whitaker. But in this case that was nothing more than a parade of grandstanding by the Dems.

I've been away for a week or so and good to know the typical boilerplate is still there.

Well....oversight means $$$$ and funding agencies and programs. That is the oversight. Rarely does oversight tie to specific individuals. Often times it is which programs are going to get an icnrease, decrease, or flat funding.

There is a lot of bigotry on the left. And it's tolerated so long as that bigotry is toward white males or, apparently, Jewish people (how do so many continue to vote Democrat?!?)
I was just thinking about this today, because it's everywhere you look now. Yes, Trump actually did normalize bigotry....on the Left! This stuff was pretty subtle, pretty hidden. But because they believe Trump is racist and enabling all these racists, now true colors come out.
Read a student newspaper piece the other day - Yale, I think - where the woman was urging her classmates to collect evidence on white males that might one day be used to block their Presidential bid, or appointment to the SCOTUS. One would think such an article is grounds for expulsion.

It's becoming really toxic. Below article talks about a researcher trying to get "radical" people from the left and right together to understand each other, and discuss civilly. That researcher actually expressed surprise that the participants from KY weren't "ignorant dumb Trump voters". LOL, then a comment after the article said "what's a bunch of white people learning to work out their disagreements going to do for people of color"? How damaged, besides ignorant/racist, does one have to be to take that away from the article?

This part slipped past the editors, although the good leftist probably reads this as only being critical of the right:
“People are making up stories about ‘the other’ — Muslims, Trump voters, whoever ‘the other’ is,” she said. “‘They don’t have the values that we have. They don’t behave like we do. They are not nice. They are evil.’”
She added: “That’s dehumanization. And when it spreads, it can be very hard to correct.”

I have wondered this for awhile.

I get that. But why have these hearings in the first place? They don't seem to have the power to conduct a proper investigation, so why do they pretend that they can investigate anything?

So you can have the back and forth with the agency head or sub agency head on particular programs.
You can also investigate particular programs, or ask questions about particular studies. (This is how it is supposed to go and usually does if you watch a ton of C-Span)

That works only when people cooperate (i.e. when they aren't hiding something). So they aren't ever going to uncover any actual wrongdoing, because they have no real power.
Giant waste of time and resources. Anything worth a real investigation should just have a Special Counsel appointed, because Congress is pretty toothless and inept.
Speaking of inept, Adam Schiff wants to open essentially an audit on steroids of Trump financials.
While I think Trump should have produced his tax returns, I would love to see Schiff and anyone else who votes for a financial probe of the POTUS to be subject to the same thing themselves. I guarantee that goes from many "ayes" to mostly "nay" very very quickly.
People still continuously vote for democrat because they are voting for what they think the democrat ideal is, not what it currently is (reality).
Look at all of the people who voted for Obama. They heard him talk and it sounded "about right" for what they think is liberality and democratic. But if they actually listened to his words and the context they were used in they probably would have thought much differently about it. He pretty much advertised cultural marxism in every way but that's not what people who believe in the democratic ideal actually heard. It flew right over their heads. Many refuse to admit it to this very day that they were hoodwinked.
So, it's been a little while since I was on Facebook. Looked there this morning and discovered one of my cousins having a breakdown of sorts.
If you are a Trump sympathizer and want to defend him at all cost do me a favor and unfriend me or better yet block me because I dont want to see your shit on my feed!!!
Why do you all love trump? If your child walked in your house and said to your wife your stupid and then you asked them where they heard that and they said my President Trump what would you say and or do???
The only votes trump is getting is the ones that drank that trump koolaid and no matter what will defend him which is called a cult but we wont get into that at this time... #Screwtrump
He's said things like this before but not quite so vehemently. I have to laugh because I can't imagine willingly taking things that far, it just doesn't seem real. Not sure what Trump did to set him off this time but I think that Trump finally broke him. This is family, friends and co-workers he is posting this to hah!
My question is: Why would anybody let Trump be the gatekeeper over how they react to the point where you are willing to cut ties with family? There are many people in our family who voted for Obama and even though I couldn't stand Obama I would never cut ties with those people because of it.
It's simply amazing to me how quickly things have devolved.

I think your cousin fits the definition of "polititard". Anyone who allows their happiness to be dictated by political goings-on is destined for unhappiness. Sorry for your family though. I have a couple of extended family relatives like this (pro Trump and anti Trump). They let the political winds consume and control them. They seem miserable. There is not a topic out there that they cannot bring back to either their hatred for Trump (in one's case) or their hatred for the "liberals" (in another's case).. I mean that quite literally.
"You going anywhere for spring break?"
"No, I can't afford to. As with the federal workers Trump threw out on the streets, I'm living paycheck-to-paycheck. Since Trump and his partners have given corporations free reign over our society, decent wages for working people are a thing of the past. I can't afford a family trip like once was the norm before successive Republican administrations destroyed the middle class."
or
"That was a boring Super Bowl."
"That's because football has been watered down for 'safety' reasons. Liberal values have so invaded our society, that any form of aggressiveness has been eliminated. Soon they'll be no more sports in Obama and Pelosi's 'United States of San Francisco'.

Both sides are like this, and they all fit broadly into the "regressive" category, though have extreme hatred for the other. The racists and bigots usually get labeled conservative and lumped on the far right. I hate manufactured terms as if these groups, like "alt-right" suddenly sprang-up, but there's also definitely an "alt-left", and they're more obnoxious and open because no one holds them accountable.
That right-wing tends to get marginalized by everyone, including Republicans. The difference is, on the left, the hatred/bigotry is enabled with a sort of quid-pro-quo or they "deserve it". It's OK for antifa to go throw rocks at alt-right demonstration, because those guys are vile white men.
It doesn't help that the left routinely contorts every disagreement/counter argument to say it's covert racism. You're actually fostering hatred, simply because you don't want to have the debate....or you can't win the debate so you nullify the contest.
2020 will be interesting. The old guard in the Dems clearly is not thrilled with the likes of AOC and other radicals/socialists. Pelosi may be awful, but she's a very effective politician - I don't think the Dems are going to allow their party to fracture, or get pulled off the deep end by these nutjobs. But they probably need another ass-kicking before they'll abandon identity politics.
You guys should start a “radical left” thread and post that shit there. These stories posted on here are not progressives, they’re radical far left nutjobs.
I’m all for the anti-progressive movement, but when you post dumb shit said by dumb people and group it in with groups you dislike (dems, progressives, etc) it kinda ruins the point of the thread.

Progressives just have different beliefs than you (and me). Radical left nutjobs are crazy people with no brain.
The problem with far left nutjobs is that they are treated as someone talking for the whole country. When in reality they should only be doing the bidding for their districts

Take the tinfoil hat off. They’re not speaking for the country. You’re afraid of that, but they’re not.
