That may be.  The Dow can be a tricky thing to pin down though.  I'm not saying that this political winds don't have an effect.

Not sure if this is legit or not, but nothing surprises me coming out of Seattle.

A shoe shine at the SF airport will cost you $15 (assume because of min. wage laws).  I only saw one shine stand in that terminal, and NEVER saw anyone getting their shoes shined.

Chances are your ancesters waltzed right in the same way that most all of the tens of millions of Eurpean immigrants did in the 19th century - no process, no testing, no waiting, nothing.  They came to get away from a situation that was not what they wanted.  Now when people today do the same thing, we see them as doing it the wrong way because they won't do all of the years long things now required.  I wonder how many of our relatives would have been able to stay here if they had to do what is necessary today?  Another gift from BIG government, huh?

they came to better themselves by pulling up their boot straps and working for it.  THey also assimilated to OUR country.

The difference today is the poeple coming here are coming to take advantage of a welfare state, send their $ back to their country and not assimilate while they are at it.
