I need to figure out logic for the trending threads section as it currently just lists the threads with the most views. If you have any thoughts on what should be considered "trending" let me know.

That's kinda what I was thinking, something to do with activity in the last 24 or 48-hours. I think I would want to weight posts a little higher than views, so maybe something like views + (posts * 5). 

I suggest amount of post in a 48 to 96 hours time frame

That makes as much sense as anything as well. I like the tought of incorporating views, but I'm not sure it's necessary.
