How did DEFIANCE Tinora get a home game in rounds 2 and 3?
-
girevikOk, so it's a stone's throw away from their actual home field, but how does the OHSAA think it's fair to keep letting them play there?
-
adogaccording to the Defiance newspaper, PH has asked the OHSAA to have the site moved to a turf field....The appeal is being considered and decision will b made sometime Monday morning.
-
Seymour ButtsA field turf stadium? They will be going to Findlay as there aren't any other in the area unless you want to goto Toledo.
-
girevikPatrick Henry playing Defiance Tinora in Defiance in round 3 is ridiculous, but Lima Central Catholic had to play there this week. That's gotta be about 75 miles or better for them.
-
Auburn FanIt's all about who you know and who has juice on the selection committee.
-
LeonardoOHSAA has really screwed this up. They really need to play, for starters, on turf. The very logical choice for this was Findlay.
I really hope Patrick Henry wins the appeal and it's moved to Findlay. -
letzplayThis is the ONLY game that is not scheduled on turf....what in the world were they thinking. REALLY takes out much doubt that there is so much politics involved and that is really sad for a HIGH school sporting event.
-
oldtripleI am shocked this game was not scheduled for turf. It was my impression that the OHSAA scheduled all games after the second round on turfed fields.
-
oberhausTinora does not want this game in Defiance either. PH has been in contact with Tinora BEFORE the brackets were released. Field was in bad shape this Friday and now we are gonna have rain a few days this week including Friday.
But a Defiance paper would not print that. -
maddmindi hope its moved considering the rain there callin for this week.

Don't give them any ideas!!! LOLadog wrote: Lima Stadium is open that night....I kid, I kid.........lol -
oberhausI would take Lima Stadium over Defiance even with only having one sided bleachers.
I just don't understand why it was placed in Defiance in the first place with Findlay being open. -
ONLYAFANSo, is this game still scheduled on the mud....I mean grass field at Defiance, or has OHSAA come to their senses and moved it to turf with the other 23 games?

Kinda surprised at this one alsoONLYAFAN wrote: So, is this game still scheduled on the mud....I mean grass field at Defiance, or has OHSAA come to their senses and moved it to turf with the other 23 games? -
gabuckeyeAny updates on this? Also, is there a game thread for this? I didn't see one. Thanks.
-
EagleFanLooks like it will remain in Defiance. They'd had made the announcement Monday if it was changed, at least I think that is how it has worked in the past.
-
oberhausThere has been no decision made by the OHSAA. I think they need to say yay or nay by tomorrow morning so Tinora can still get some practice at BG or Springfield etc.

Not sure what route you'd take to go that many miles but it's really only about 55 miles (tops) from Defiance to Lima.girevik wrote: Patrick Henry playing Defiance Tinora in Defiance in round 3 is ridiculous, but Lima Central Catholic had to play there this week. That being said, I join the chorus on being surprised this game is on grass and at Defiance. -
Rolly67I was actually hoping for Napoleon if they were gonna have it on a grass field.
-

Napoleon didn't put in a bid because at a meeting 3 years ago Dr. Dan Ross told all the AD's that all regional final games would be put on turf as long as one was available. Well Findlay is sitting open but somehow that didn't happen here..hmmmmmmmmmm..Rolly67 wrote: I was actually hoping for Napoleon if they were gonna have it on a grass field. -
pdoubleopThis kind of stuff is happening all over the state then...Clinton Massie is playing Kettering Alter for Region 16 at Centerville. Alter doesn't have a field so they use other fields locally and have used Centerville as a home game field. Alter basically has a home game for the Region final and Massie has to drive 30-40 miles. Sounds like a similar situation to what you guys have going on here.

I don't think most people have an issue with Tinora playing so close to home. PH is only has to travel about 20 miles. The issue is not playing on turf when a turf field within reasonable distance is available.pdoubleop wrote: This kind of stuff is happening all over the state then...Clinton Massie is playing Kettering Alter for Region 16 at Centerville. It is what it is ...Should be a great game!!
