In depth physicals should be performed on athletes!

There have been way too many deaths among athletes because of heart conditions. Simple physicals that are performed in high school are too much on the surface. I played football in high school, 97-99, and now I learned a few months ago I have an enlarged heart muscle (naturally comes from lifting and excercise according to the doctors), and a symptom called SVT, supraventricular tachycardia. This I think is what's happening to athletes, especially in football where the physical aspect of the game is in such high demand, and players sometimes unknowingly go overboard. As their careers go on, their heart gets enlarged even more and they get no treatment for it. Sometimes no symptoms occur until it's too late, fortunately for me I did have symptoms. I hope these physicals become more in depth, sad to see this happen to athletes. Your thoughts?

Parents have never been restricted from having in-depth physicals on their children before they allow them to play. If you as a parent are concerned about the risks have one completed.

When it comes to pro sports these athletes have an obligation to determine their health as do owners have an obligation to determine the commitment they are making to an athlete. I don't know if it needs to be required as much as it should begin by choice. As more is learned about the impacts and risks I think people should choose on their own to seek out the status of their own health.

IN theory it is a good idea but who is going to pay for that? Ya know how many kids are playing sports?

As stated above..if a parent is concerned then they should schedule one with their physician to get it done.
