Steubenville's Dwight Macon
-
ryan_nolanA player can be talked to at anytime within the contact period, even if they were not talking before does not mean that can't talk now that does not make sense. Recruiting goes on until signing day, players are contacted every day.
-
captvernLet me check the recruiting book again. But i read something in it about he coaching change thing.
-
ryan_nolanWell I am sure that a new coach can recruit his own players, he is not going to just be handcuffed with the players the former coach was recruiting, that makes no sense at all. So you are telling me the guy that takes the USC job for instance has to only recruit players that he has no relationship with i.e. player that Pete Carroll was recruiting.
Nothing is in ink when a player makes a verbal commitment, old coach or new coach. Any player can be recruited by any coach at any time up until his name is inked on the scholarship. -

I think wherever he goes, he will have to redshirt for a year. Redshirting didn't do Collaros any harm.gyea36 wrote: I thought the Wyoming offer he had was attractive with their spread and the Mizzou coach that groomed Brad Smith and Chase Daniels taking over their head job. Yes, they showed they have a good freshman qb. But, go there and redshirt a year to develop/wait, and I at worst you have 2 years of starting after 3 years of development in a better conference.
I have more faith in Macon than most of you. I think he will do well no matter where he goes. -
captvernRyan what i am saying is that a coach new coach cant recruit a kid he recruited from his old school if the new school wasnt already in contact with them. Especially when Jones was hired in dead period.
-
ryan_nolanThe dead period is over, and athletes are fair game during the recruiting process is all I am trying to say. Charlie Strong was hired at Louisville during the same time and he is recruiting kid left and right. And I am sure he has spoken to a few kids that he was recruiting at Florida that Louisville was not talking to. The NCAA is bad but believe me they are not that bad.
-
captvernI said that jones was hired in a dead period not that it was a dead period now. However there is a dead period till the 14 then a quiet period till the 16. The NCAA is very bad. I deal with them everyday.
-
ryan_nolanThe dead and quiet periods only mean one thing, coaches cannot be out on the road visiting schools, but prospects can visit them on the campus. If I may ask what do you do in your line of work that you deal with the NCAA daily.
You can send me a PM if you don't want to say it here. -
captvernryan you have a pm

Cmhs74Best of luck to Mr. Mason where ever he goes.
-
ryan_nolanNot sure who mister Mason is, but I am sure you mean well.
-
snyds113I talked to Dwight yesterday and he said he is still goin to Central Michigan.

CMU would not be a bad place for him to go. They always play a good OOC schedule and usually upset someone. This year they played Boston College, Arizona, and Michigan State and beat MSU.snyds113 wrote: I talked to Dwight yesterday and he said he is still goin to Central Michigan.
The MAC has a reputation for producing a lot of good NFL quarterbacks. I know it's too early to talk about Macon going pro, but I'm sure he's thinking about it. Best of luck to him! -
FairwoodKingSo-- is Macon still planning to attend CMU or has he changed his mind?
-
ryan_nolanMacon de-commits from CMU and selects Toledo.

ryan_nolanHe committed to Toledo yesterday.
-
rmolin73Wow
-
DbarnianGood luck to him at Toledo!!! He's a great player. Hopefully one day he'll be starting at QB there,
-
snyds113IMO I think he would be a better wide out or D back.
-
Darkon
I agree. I think he would be a good D back at the next level.snyds113 wrote: IMO I think he would be a better wide out or D back. -
FairwoodKingWhatever position he plays, I wish him the best.
