Ashland (2-2) @ West Holmes (4-0)

jetsfan 2.0this should be a heck of a game so who wins it?
-
Old RiderWest Holmes wins this one...by 2 scores.

unc4lifeThis game comes down to one thing. Ashland cannot stop the run. That's it, they haven't done it in about 6 years. They did it for one half against Wadsworth, but then just got run all over in the second half. If some how Ashland decides they want to try and stop the run Ashland wins, if not they get beat by at least 2 TDs.

Old RiderAshland has certainly played the tougher non-conference schedule, but stopping the West Holmes running attack has not happened in the first 4 weeks and I don't see it happening this week either.

sanitizerWest Holmes. I would be suprised if Ashland can stop the run. I think they may be able to pass agains West Holmes however.... That's why they play the game!

Great point. This is the same reason I see West Holmes handily winning this game. It's just a really bad match up for Ashland. For a point of reference, Ashland gave up 175 rushing yards to Wooster last week. Granted, it was Dyson's first real varsity action this season, but they hadn't had a 100 yard back in a game so far. Not even close, in fact. And I don't think Ashland's offense is prolific enough this season to keep up.unc4life;1505878 wrote:This game comes down to one thing. Ashland cannot stop the run. unc4lifeOne thing to add to this is that I don't think West Holmes running attack will be any better then what Wadsworth had. West Holmes does a few different things, but Wadsworth was much bigger up front then West Holmes will be. I have been around the Ashland program long enough and its the same thing every year. If you cant stop the run your going to be in trouble. As for Ashland's offense, I think for the first time they are finally starting to come together. The passing game is starting to click the offensive line is big and is starting to gel and the QB is on pace to put up some pretty crazy numbers. I guess this is why the say they play the game, but like jaco said West Holmes at home is a tuff matchup for Ashland.

RIDER DADOnly saw the three qrts from the rain delay game with Wooster, but was impressed with Ashland's o-line not as big as northwest, but the work well together, Wooster did not get much pressure on Ashland qb. Don't know what happened to Wooster they have some nice skill players but seem to fall apart in the end of the third qrt.

For Wooster, it's called "awful or no halftime adjustments." They've hung around (or even had the lead) the first half of every game this year, then fallen apart after halftime. That's the coaches, not the kids. And their offense is stagnant. Daugherty is going to get killed before he graduates. He should seriously think about sticking to baseball and giving up football for his own health. The more things change.. Haas basically kept the entire staff from McCreary, and it shows. They're awful.RIDER DAD;1506386 wrote:Only saw the three qrts from the rain delay game with Wooster, but was impressed with Ashland's o-line not as big as northwest, but the work well together, Wooster did not get much pressure on Ashland qb. Haas is the DC, last year he brought in a new OC, a new receiver coach plus two other new assistants and this year he added another new assistant. Interestingly, two of the "awful" coaches left over from the McCreary years had no trouble coaching the Woo JV team to another win over the orrville jv a week or two ago 26-0.jaco;1506399 wrote:For Wooster, it's called "awful or no halftime adjustments." wallykThe Perone kid is a great back. A pretty convincing win by the Arrows. Once you get behind to a team that can score quickly, the run only offense works against you.
