2013 Northwest Indians DIV Football

  • Lockup Screen
We are less than a month away from camp to start another year of our beloved high school football team. Things have changed around Canal Fulton. New opponents, new playoff divison, some coaching changes. What are your thoughts? We return 9 starters on Offensive and 7 on Defensive and the entire kicking game back off a team that struggled and finished 2-8. We have been in the playoffs 10 out of the past 12 years. One poor year happens to the best programs. What are your thoughts on the 2013 Northwest Indians

    Okay...so...scrimmage details:

First, does anyone know the player's name wearing 37 at WR? How about 25 that played RB for 2nd string/JV?

Scrimmage started with some kicking and the punt game looked really good. Better than it has in a couple years. Good solid 45-50 yards. Next up was some field goals. NW had 3 different guys that kicked, so not sure if Massengale, 69, has the spot or not. Overall they looked pretty good. A couple not so good ones, but overall good.

The offense looked pretty solid with Mullane running the ball. Kid is QUICK and has a fair amount of power (especially for his smaller size - not a big kid). Passes seemed pretty spot on from Culp and 37 looked pretty good at WR. The line has a little work to do, but most of it should be settled in by the first game.

Now the Defense...hmmm...did not look so hot. Did pretty well against the run up the middle but plays to the sides and passes were a pretty big weak point. Hopefully they can get these young guys up to speed and ready week 1. If they don't sure up, it could be a long season.

Let me say though that I think Norton should have a pretty good season with Tanksly at the helm for his second year. They won't be a doormat as in past years.

So, overall, definitely some things to work on but some definite strong points as well. I see what people are saying in regards to potential.

Looking forward to the scrimmage Thursday against Garfield to see how much they have worked on their shortcomings in the few days between.
