How do we heal?
-
FairwoodKingI seem to be the lone voice in the forest when I keep asking how Steubenville can heal. I sent a stern letter to the editor of the Herald Star last week telling everyone that Reno, Abdalla, and the entire Steubenville police force must go. The HS refused to print my letter. Instead they printed a lot of letters that were nothing but fluff that wouldn't offend any of their readers. The Herald Star has no spine and has no business being a part of our community. They contribute nothing. There is no journalism in Steubenville.
I'm going to rewrite my letter and focus exclusively on getting rid of Reno. After I write the first draft, I will post it here. I welcome your comments and criticisms. I would also welcome some co-signers. I'm not going to submit this unless I have at least five co-signers. Then and only then will they realize that this is a problem that they have to deal with.
Although Reno is only the tip of the iceberg, he is a big tip. He has to go first before anything good will happen. He is an open sore that will not heal. I nearly died the other night when 20/20 was on. It was a huge embarrassment to us people who are still proud of our community.
Before you say that I live in Houston and am out of the loop, I am seriously thinking of retiring in Steubenville. I have great memories of growing up there, and I would to rekindle those old flames. I love the town, I love the school, and I want to do everything in my power to bring back Steubenville's greatness. It is a tremendous challenge, but I will do everything I can.
Pray for us. We need it. -
GoChiefsI'll spend my prayers on the rape victim.
Great memories or not, why anyone would want to move back to Stuebenville now is just mind boggling. I do consider the source though, so I can understand why.
There is absolutely nothing they can do to heal right now. DeWine isn't even done running the town through the mud. The dust will need to settle before any healing can be even thought about. They should have thought about all this before they decided to start worshipping a high school football team like that was all that mattered, and letting the head coach run amuck in the town and do whatever he damn well pleased. -
Curly JI'm sure a letter to the local Steibenville paper will work...(sarcasm)
I truly think what will help healing is when people from Steubenville will quit blaming the Victim, which is what you can't stop doing.
Do you really think anyone on the OC will sign your letter after the opinions you posted in here about the whole Rape situation? -
sherm03Why are you changing your tune now FWK? Especially after saying you are on Reno's side and you aren't changing your mind.

He once threatened me in front of the entire Boosters Club. I just ignored it. It's part of his abrasive personality.
I don't like Reno. But he was very good to my late father. They were very close friends. For that reason I will respect him.FairwoodKing;1352004 wrote: Reno deserves to keep his job. This has nothing to do with football. You don't fire an employee of 30+ years just because he made one foul-up. I don't like him, but I'm on his side. If you choose to disagree with me, that's your perogative. But I'm not changing my mind.FairwoodKing;1352029 wrote:I never said that. I will quote myself: "I am the first to say that he handled the rape case very poorly." And he did. But did he handle it so badly that he should be fired after 30 years of good service? That is the question. -
Crimson streakGetting rid of Reno would be a step in the right direction. The school board needs to send a message that this will never happen again. Getting rid of Reno would show that they are trying to make things better

How about just 5% of you stays. -

If you really have to stay, maybe you could start by apologizing for your classless comments that you made on here regarding the victim of the case?FairwoodKing;1414233 wrote:No, I'm here to stay. -

Is this the non gay 5% part that gets blamed ???ernest_t_bass;1414240 wrote:How about just 5% of you stays. -
fish82This thread blows just as hard on the other five forums it's posted on.

Other 5 forums. That makes it sound less sincere post and more like a look at me post. Why does that not surprise me. -

Apparently, I agree with you at least 1/365 days in a year, as this sums up my feelings on the situation.ccrunner609;1414633 wrote:You have to heal when it comes to a HS football team? you live a trivial life.
If you're a town who's let a local high school team become such an integral part of your social structure that negative acts concerning it put you in a situation where you, as a community, have to "heal"...it probably says more about the skewed priorities you guys are living under than anything else. -

Anyone else feel like fwk is trying to act like Bush giving a speech after 9/11?Heretic;1414759 wrote:Apparently, I agree with you at least 1/365 days in a year, as this sums up my feelings on the situation.

I just glanced at the post, but no, FWK's spelling appears to eliminate any comparisons to Bush. -
Curly JI say we heal by first adimiting what a POS you are for agreeing with most of Steubenvile...although you don't now months later....see Sherm's quotes.

i dont think that changing your opinion after seeing the facts is so terrible. many people were willing to give these guys the benefit of the doubt and there were so many rumors and stories it was hard to tell what was true. after things came out in a court of law and they saw the actual FACTS, they decided how they felt.Curly J;1415243 wrote:I say we heal by first adimiting what a POS you are for agreeing with most of Steubenvile...although you don't now months later....see Sherm's quotes. -

Exactly, as imo they're part of the problem. Also, I agree with pretty much everyone on here: you made your bed (by pleading your allegiance to the two dirtbag rapists), so lie in it.Curly J;1413982 wrote:I'm sure a letter to the local Steubenville paper will work...(sarcasm)

I'm sure the five signatures will finally get them to realize and resolve the problem.FairwoodKing;1413979 wrote:
