The team is unfortunately dead in the water for the year. The script plays out about the same for every game. A hard fought first half with a few big plays where we feel like we are in line for a big upset, followed by a mediocre 3rd quarter with the signs of some mental mistakes. Then in the third or fourth, the opposing team makes a big play, and you can actually watch the team "give up". Now, I put that in quotes because I know from playing the game, that as a player they never give up, these are great kids, but you can see from the outside the body language and performance take a nose dive at a certain point. The whole time the coaching staff paces the sideline berating the players, and screaming at them like they are a dog that just messed in the house. Being as close to the action as I am, many would be surprised to hear the words coming out of the mouths of theese grown men while addressing their kids, our kids. I know the team is young, and there is some real talent out there, but I wonder if the scheme and teaching is in the right place. You have a quick and smart QB, and yet you spent the first 3-4 games throwing 40 yard go routes instead of short passing with draws and option. Now, that scheme did seem to change for the NP game, and I was glad to see it, but the damage had already been done. It seems as if the staff has the ability to do amazing things with the exact right kind of talent. The question is, can they win with anything other than the best atheletes on the field on any given night?
