Brookfield vs Struthers

  • Spread All Day
It really doesn't go both ways. Struthers kids aren't like that- ever. Class& respect for the opponent. Brookfield fans are really the only people that get mad when they're team is picked against(which is funny) but we were wrong. Good team out there.

Honestly you might as well close it. Doesn't look good

It's not easy to refrain from using names, when their players come in and ID themselves. Just saying...
Chop block or cut block? 2 entirely different things. Cut blocks are legal. Chop blocks are not. Right? Not referring to anyone or any incident inparticular, just trying to clarify the terms and rules.

Struthers defense played well enough to win the game. They did keep an offense that was averaging 55 points a game to just 19 points. The offense and special teams let them down. Like I said in the last thread. It takes a total team effort to win a game. Offense, defense, and special teams.

The defense needs some work too though. A number of missed tackles in the backfield, and Brookfield converted on 3rd and 4th downs in key situations. They also let Brookfield drive the field for a TD in a little over a minute, right before halftime.

The interception in the redzone (2nd or 3rd offensive possession of the 1st half) really hurt them. I don't like that they went to the HB pass 2 weeks in a row. Not even that... they didn't try to set it up with any sweeps or pitches or anything. It was a little too early in the game for something like that to work. Brookfield had it well scouted.

Could've been up by 2 TDs at the half. They had their opportunities, and they couldn't capitalize. Stuff like that needs to improve.

I was also a little perturbed about the generic offense. Why not run any Wildcat stuff? Tommy does have 17 games experience as a starting QB. If anyone other than Muntean is gonna throw, it should be Tommy. Even if he didn't throw, he still could have gotten outside and helped loosen up the middle for David. I agree.

They haven't run any Wildcat since week 1, and I don't think Tommy has played 1 down at RB all year.

The Coaches still get the benefit of the doubt. They just got beat by a great team. Even with all the little mistakes, Struthers was still there in the end. They played very tough. And hopefully they gained some respect.

The team didn't show any quit. They were down by 20 with like a couple minutes left in the game. They could have packed it in, gone through the motions, and run out the clock. Instead they went down and scored a TD.

They can sneak into the playoffs at 7-3. If they don't want to leave it to chance, 8-2 will get them in for sure.

Brookfield shouldn't be tested again until the 2nd or 3rd week of the playoffs.

I'd just like to say Warriors you did an awesome job last night! Despite all the terrible penalty calls, you overcame and took over the game! Couldn't be any more proud! Warrior strong!

Really, because my 11 year olds were harassed by Struthers students at that game about how bad Brookfield sucked and so on. That's classy. Just saying!

And I'm sure nothing like that has ever happened in Brookfield before. It wasn't by me, or anyone I know. And it was probably by other 11 year olds. Kid stuff.

    Let it go... you won.

Dont close it yet. How could u say that they were bad penalties. That great lineman that u guys have had 5 false start penalties called on him. He moved before the ball was snapped. Since I can't Players names , lets just say it was number 75 , the one that chop blocking all night long. Just
Remember 75 what goes around will come back around.
  • Wildcat 9595
Don't see the cats making the play offs , if they couldn't beat brookfield.
How will the beat poland, Hubbard , niles or howland this year. They are all better teams the brookfield. Even if the win 2 out of them 4 games and the beat beaver local and Canfield. That will put them at 7-3 it will tough getting into the div 3 play off in the reg that they are in

Brookfield is better than all of those teams in my opinion wildcat. Struthers has a real chance. We'll see how they play this week. Illegal blocks or not, they won. Let's drop it

Ya that's what I'm sayin man it was a great game and in all honesty I believe struthers beats Hubbard, Poland and howland, I think there toughest game remaining is niles they look like a tough tough team

I have to disagree with you if you think Brookfield was the best team that struthers is going to play this year. I know brookfield is really good this year but u wrong about them being better then the niles , Poland , Hubbard or howland And yes struthers does have a chance in every game the play this year. This is the year that most is struthers fans have been waiting for. Since both the senior class and the junior class were both really good as freshmans. All I am saying is they are going to have to play there best games if they want to beat Hubbard ,
Poland , niles and howland. And I am not selling brookfield short , I thought
Is was a 50/50 game going into the struthers game when all wildcats fans were
Picking struthers to win by 14 or so. And I am not taking the win away from Brookfield they were
The better team Friday night. And the chop blocks had nothing to do with them winning. I just don't like seeing that in a high school game. But u can't compare brookfield football to Hubbard , howland, niles and Poland.

Your right in the fact that over the years those programs have been better than brookfield but this year you cant deny that brookfield is in the same league as hubbard howland niles and poland, i respect your opinion but this year i believe there just as good and theres no way we could ever know because they dont play those teams

7-3 can get the Cats in. They'd just need to knock off Beaver Local and Canfield. Campbell, Lakeview, Field, Beaver Local, and Canfield had all start winning some games. They would also need a 2-2 split against Hubbard, Poland, Niles, and Howland. And they'd also have to hope for a few upsets in Region 11.

A win last night would have put them up to #1 or #2 in Region 11. Tough one to swallow. Ironically enough though, they moved up from #8 to #7 even with the loss. Campbell, Lakeview, and Field all won.

Struthers could definitely sneak in at 7-3, on SOS and L2 points alone.

It's not out of the question that Brookfield could hang with Hubbard, Poland, Niles, and Howland. I'd even pick them to beat Niles and Poland. Hubbard would be a toss up. They could score on Howland, but I do think Deveon Smith would be a big problem for them.

Your right we won't know for sure. And yes you guys have a great team this year. I think you guys have a great chance to win state, that is how my respect and how good I think u guys are this year. Enjoy the rest of your season

I just did some quick Math.

Say they beat Niles and Poland... lose to Howland and Hubbard... and beat Beaver Local and Canfield. In that case, 7-3 would get the Wildcats as high as the 4 seed. Probably the 5 or 6 seed though.

7-3, with a win over Hubbard or Howland and a loss to Poland or Niles, would likely be enough to get them as high as the 3 seed. Probably the 4 or 5 seed.

8-2 any way will guarantee them a home game in week 11.

    Very cool.

Congrats to Brookfield...they have a nice team....considering their seniors and juniors had some very
rough seasons while in junior high ...they've come along nicely by having a steady head coach at the helm....
