Canton McKinley 2012

McKAlumni07I haven't been on here in a while but here it goes.
We open the season with a new coaching staff. A new QB and a very talented Soph. RB returning. Should still have a solid team.
Week 1- Home vs Walsh Jesuit
Week 2- Away @ Huber Heights Wayne
Week 3- OPEN
Week 4- Home vs N.C. Hoover
Week 5- Away @ Lake
Week 6- Home vs Jackson
Week 7- Away @ GlenOak
Week 8- Home vs Perry
Week 9- Away @ Boardman
Week 10- Away- @ Massillon
As the schedule stands right now we do not have a week 3 opponent but this can help or hurt us. A division 6 team might hurt our points as to not playing at all but you dont want to have an open week. The first two weeks are tough games and we are playing 4 Home games and 5 on the road which means this could be a long season depending on how the coach pulls the team together and whether we have a QB or not. -
McKAlumni07The bulldogs survive week one vs Walsh Jesuit with a 34-28 victory in front of 8,000 at fawcett. Glover-williams had 284 yds rushing including the game winning 88 yd TD run. It was a sloppy start falling behind 14-0 but 27 unanswered helped. Walsh would take the lead into the 4th at 28-27... But the shifty Glover-Williams erased that on a QB misdirection and ran 88 yards to give the bulldogs the lead for good. Next week the bulldogs travel to dayton to take on HH Wayne on Saturday.

McKAlumni07Canton McKinley seems to have a theme for this high school football season... SURVIVE!.... McKinley squeeks by H.H.Wayne 17-14 with a game that started at 7pm and finished at about 1:13am. McKinley scored on a punt return for a TD in the first Quarter and after a fumbled hold on the PAT McK led 6-0.. Wayne answered with a 46 yd TD run by their QB and mad the PAT for a 7-6 game.. McKinley took the kickoff to the wayne 30 almost untouched.... converted a crucial 4 and 6 to set up firstdown deep in wayne teritory.. Then things go interesting.... There was lightning and by OHSAA rules play must be suspended 30 minutes from the last lightning seen... At this point the field started flooding on the track around it and the stadium and area even lost power for a second. but as the story on fridaynightohio.com said McKinley outlasted the storm and wayne to win. at 11:30pm play resumed.... Wayne took a 14-6 lead.. McKinley answered with a field goal to make it 14-9... Glover Williams finally found some daylight and scored and got the 2 pt conversion to make it 17-14... after three and thats the way it would end at 1:13 am...

McKAlumni07Well a week 4 matchup at Fawcett Stadium pitted the 3-0 NC Hoover Vikings vs the 2-0 McKinley Bulldogs. It started with a quick 3 and out by Hoover and McKinley jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead. Hoover fumbled the next kickoff and McKinley recovered at the Hoover 9. McKinley missed the field goal and it stayed 7-0. McKinley got a field goal late first Q to make it 10-0.. Hoover stormed back and it was tied at 10 at the half. McKinley scored mid 3 to make it 17-10.. Then scored again to make it 24-10. Hoover took the next kickoff 99 yards to the house after bobbling the ball to make it 24-17.. Middle of the fourth Hoover scored to tie the game at 24... McKinley drove down field and kicked a field goal with 2:04 left to make it 27-24... Hoover took the kickoff to the 49 yd line. After a holding penalty and a sack Hoover had it 2nd and 29. McKinley stopped them on 2nd and third down to make it 4th and 29. Hoover then had a receiver make it behind the defense with 1:18 left and got the first down from 4th and 29 and got the ball the the McK 30. On the next play hovers QB threw an interception to lock up the bulldog win 27-24... McKinley is 3-0 and has a road trip to lake next week.
