Lexingtons Coach B.J. Payne resigns
-
Old RiderThe coaches are dropping like flies in the OCC!
Should make for an interesting 2012 season, as if 2011 wasn't exciting enough! -
THE4RINGZBig Mike has OCC experience and is looking for employment
-
Old Rider^^^ This is the varsity position, not 7th grade.

RedRider1I liked Coach Payne...interesting guy. I think in both this and the Woo situations, both sides will be better off with the parting of ways.
-
Old RiderHe came across as a very cocky individual, but he always gave respect where respect was due.
-
GrandeSacUsually when Payne lost a game the excuses were because of injuries, poor defense, poor offense, or bad calls. He very seldom gave credit to the winning team. His quotes in the News Journal through the years are proof of that, mostly done in an undertone way.
-
THE4RINGZSome of the rumors flying around about this are completely unbelievable.

RedRider1His name is in on several open coaching positions...better be sure what you share is fact.
-
THE4RINGZYou guys can find them, I am not spreading any rumors. My only point was to those peole who have heard said rumors they are really unbelievable. IMO
-
GoJPM!He was going to be fired (as football HC), if he didn't resign. I heard some very interesting things from people most definitely in the know! There is a reason the numbers for freshman have been dropping the last couple of years.
The one good thing about BJ was that he did get colleges to look at, not only Lex players, but kids from other schools too that played Lexington. -
BR1986FBHorrible name...sounds like the victim of a chick with an overbite. Best of luck to him though.

I believe he is a former professional wrestler.BR1986FB;1017341 wrote:Horrible name...sounds like the victim of a chick with an overbite. -

No, I am being serious. He had a career in that sport.BR1986FB;1017343 wrote:Makes sense. -
skankBut that is his real name, He may have altered it during the wrestling portion of his career to like Pain or something, I don't know, But I remember his name being announced during his sophomore year and me and my buddy commenting on what a great name for a DT, Payne.
-
Heretic
Did a quick google name search and he apparently went by B.J. Payne as a wrestler, too. Apparently was in Ohio Valley Wrestling around the time they were WWE's feeder system, so he must have been a "minor league" big name at some point.skank;1017420 wrote:But that is his real name, He may have altered it during the wrestling portion of his career to like Pain or something, I don't know, But I remember his name being announced during his sophomore year and me and my buddy commenting on what a great name for a DT, Payne. -
GoJPM!BJ has landed on his feet at Hilton Head HS in SC. Apparently, they were enamored with college coaches endorsements of him getting the kids college scholarships. It was published in a SC newspaper, that he got 46 Lexington kids scholarships during his tenure there (really?). Wonder how many of them went to Mount Union or AU on academic or partial athletic scholarships? Other than pimping kids, both at Lexington and other OCC schools, from what I heard he wore his welcome out at Lexington (two playoff teams with all that talent, they defined underachievement) and Hilton Head will probably figure this out in a few years after the honeymoon period with BJ is over.

RedRider1Heard BJ had some sort of connection down there.
Led promoted Dan Studer to head coach and I saw their OC is a finalist for the Loudonville job.
Should be an interesting few years in Lex country. -
GoJPM!His dad played college football at Clemson. I guess he spent his formative years in SC before moving to Ohio.
Wasn't Studer one of the featured players in "Go Tigers!" -
RedRiderTraditionYes, Dan Studer was #55 in the movie "Go Tigers". He is the son of the late Steve Studer, former Massillon Strength and Conditioning Coach who was also featured in the movie.
