You didn't say "to start the season" before. You just said it was the first and only time Norwayne would be ranked above Orrville.
Knowing his thoughts on it, I'm assuming he means more along the lines of the razzing that would happen, but if I hadn't known his sensibilities on the subject, I would have thought the same.thePITman;1249480 wrote:I know you don't intend it this way, but to many, your quote comes across as "We should never lose to a WCAL team, let alone twice. I certainly appreciate the sanity of this statement.Old Rider;1249440 wrote:I will be the first to tell you that our 2-8 teams and 3-7 teams of the early 2000's wouldn't have had a chance against those teams of that era. -
BRFI think we should beat whoever we play.
Same with the Browns, Indians and the Buckeyes.
Just sayin'...... -

Yes...I'm a big time homer!
You go out to win every game.
Somehow, that gets twisted into Orrville fans being arrogant. -

Absolutely, we even see this season that Chippewa isn't laying down for anyone. You have to play the games to win.
Expectation from the olayers, coaches, and fans is a big part of the success in Orrville. No one wants to be the guy who let everyone down. And that is the sign of a successful program. -
was_that_itAttended the quarter situation of the Hillsdale/Crestview scrimmage. Missed the 10 play sets and goal line situations at the beginning, so take my observations for what they are worth. They played 2 quarters game situation at the end of the scrimmage, Hillsdale won 21-7. Not sure what Crestview has, they graduated alot from a successful squad last year....so did Hillsdale. Crestview seemed run heavy, with some nice play-action passes completed. Pretty hard hitting scrimmage, shout out to Hillsdale's middle linebacker, eberly I think???sp? He is a big time hitter, he will fill the backer void nicely. Hillsdale's D-line has size and did decent, not much depth though as Crestview ran it down their throats for their only score toward the end with some subs in. Hillsdale's skill positions seemed above average, nice speed and ball skills, not much size though. Quarterback threw some nice passes, one interception I think, one td. Hillsdale's backs in space are dangerous, some very nice long runs. WRs caught most of the balls thrown to them, not many drops, some nice grabs made. Secondary could use some work. Crestviews one defesive end was a stud and controlled his side of the line. Overall good scrimmage, positives for both teams. Hillsdale with some work will definately keep up the winning ways from the last few years. Week one will be interesting. Sorry for the book.

Red RumJust returned from the Loudonville/Norwayne scrimmage...
Norwayne basically destroyed them. The Cats no huddle, pass happy offense had Loudonvilles secondary in a constant state of chinese fire drill. The new Cat QB is pretty good, he doesn't appear to present the run threat Wallace did but he is accurate with a good arm.
Loudonville was their own worst enemy. The Birds have a strong running game but had a serious case of fumble-itis. I think the final score for the 1st teams was something like 35-10 and it could have been worse.
Norwayne will be a handful again this year. -
Jmar25I've seen all WCAL "contenders" minus norwayne after watching hillsdale tonight.... If norwayne is half as talented as last year.... There is no way they should lose to any of those wcal teams.
I could be way off base but i feel like there is a lot of blah right now in the WCAL. IMO it will be norwayne 7-0 and then NWN,WAY,DAL,HIL,SMI with 4-3 records. Any given sunday for those teams when they play each other.
As for hillsdale tonight. They did 20/20 plays. 2-1 crestview. Crestview looked good and beat up hillsdale a bit. Hillsdale had a big play run to set up the score. Crestview ran it down their throats series two and had a very big pass play on a blown coverage set up second score. In the quarters session the tables turned big time. Crestview looked slow and tired. (had 30 total kids next to hillsdale 50 and platoon style play) hillsdale took it to crestview on the ground.
Hillsdale will live and die by the jet. The first qb didn't look very good throwing the ball. The second qb didn't throw much. Might have looked better than the first at times. As far as I know crestview brings back just one starter and two other role players. I would say they are right on par with the middle group of WCAL. -
BlackSmithWere you and Jmar at the same scrimmage??????????????????????

Go FalconsI guess I will be the tie breaker on the Hillsdale scrimmage! In the first round Hillsdale looked bad
( Was_That_It did not see this part), particularly on D and worst in pass coverage. In the quarter play, the Falcons got it together and did play a lot better.
The O looked descent but also keep in mind one lineman was cleared to play a week ago and did not play last week at TV. They moved guys around a bit to see what worked as the line is not set yet. The WR's dropped only a few and looked pretty good as did the backs.
The D line has some gelling to do and the backs need to step it up on coverage.
All in all I was not overly impressed but at the same time I realize how many new guys are on the field and I think we will be a contender for second down the stretch.
Not to sound like a broken 1_beast but compared to the past few years we are small, slow and un-athletic. -
1486wdAnyone catch any of the Dalton triway scrimmage?
-
thePITman
Triway looked really good in the first 15 plays (10 & 5). They only scored once but moved the ball really well. They also stuffed Dalton's inside run game pretty well. Dalton's offense was lethargic and couldn't pass (QB had terrible accuracy). Their defensive line was average. The secondary didn't have much cover pressure, but they kept us away from the big play (except for a 22yd TD pass).1486wd;1249695 wrote:Anyone catch any of the Dalton triway scrimmage?
When the 2 game-like quarters started, though, just like in the Fairless scrimmage, Dalton started to get excited. Their D-line created pressure, and their kids started hitting. They also hit a few passes, while there were still some passes that were way off. The 2 quarters ended 0-0, but both teams had big plays called back by a penalty (Dalton's big play would have been a TD pass).
I know Dalton's been missing some players, but were expecting to have a few back for last night? I know Triway was missing 2 two-way starters who dressed but did not play (2 of our 4 2+ year letter-winners). In addition, we showed basically nothing the whole night - base defenses and the same plays on offense, just swapping sides. West Holmes gets last night's game tape, so..
Triway will definitely need to shore up their D-line if they want to have a chance against West Holmes. We also did not do a very good job moving the sticks in the game-like situations. Both teams had to punt a few times. -
1486wdIn other words, sounds like a couple of average teams in their leagues. After last season, I will take average, haha. Since so many of their key contributors are sophs, they still have to look at it like a building process. Good luck to both this season.
-
thePITmanGood luck to Dalton and all of the WCAL, as well (except Waynedale in week 3).
-
1486wdAlso kind of strange that the bulldogs did not look good in the 10 play session, but did in the game setting both scrimmages. Not really sure what that means

I was able to watch the grass grow...1486wd;1249695 wrote:Anyone catch any of the Dalton triway scrimmage?
All joking aside, they were pretty evenly matched. Nobody really stood out, just two completely opposite teams...Triway spread offense/Dalton run game going at it.
Got some good scouting in for week 2! -
OQBI was curious as to why dalton didn't play Connor Clark...the only time he got on the field was to long snap.
-
bobcat14Went and seen my Bobcats for the first time this year.....i will give you my in-put.......New QB looked really nice stayed in the pocket and made nice passes...he is NOT(LOL) a running QB but he reads the D real well and finds the open WR's.....the O line looked good the right tackle had alot of trouble with the Redbirds DE not sure if he had an off night or the DE is just a stud.....on a side note...I know the Cats lost Wolf and Wilson and that Scruggs is the left tackle now..does anybody know who they had starting at the left guard??? he did a nice job.... they didnt do much running but also heard Zimmerly is still out......Now to the Defense.......we did hold Loudonville to only 10pts (varsity) but it looked like we struggled with the run, Redbirds did what they wanted to on the ground but TO killed them.
All in all i think the Cats looked good, need to fix a couple of things and get some key players back looks to be another good year for Norwayne. Loudonville also looked good but they need alot of practice on holding on to the ball...how are they "supposed" to be this year???
1 week away!!!!!!...Good luck to all WCAL teams this year...stay healthy!!!!!! -
thePITman"the Cats lost Wolf and Wilson"... for how long?
-
OQBThe bobcats success is on Joe Dreher....he is not Adam Wallace, but if he can manage the offense and not turn the ball over...they will be hard to beat.
