    Any MVP candidates out there?
Going to have to go with Jon Zimmerly for MVP this year IMO...... He would be my pick

    2012 MVP possibilities-

    Nolletti from Northwestern.

I'm sure every team has someone they could mention. I'm not sure who all is returning on the various teams.

as far as Norwayne, I wouldn't rule out Harris. He is flashy with big play ability. That usually gets noticed at awards time.

he would have no chance to win with their record, but noone was more valuable to their team than Moyer was to Dalton last year.

Jon will break his dad's records next season and if stays healthy entire season will be MVP.

I will 2nd this all you have to do is look at the Chippewa game. I saw that Norwayne had a good JV team and I saw the Dogs play them. The Dogs hung right there with them the whole game. Im really excited to see what are athletes are like next year.

Got confirmation that Brent B. will be interviewing for the head job at Smithville this coming week.

Is that the only candidate you know for certain that has/will interview for the job?

That is the only one I know, I think Baker was applying as well, he teaches at the school.

This is the list of the five coaches that are listed for the Smithville job that is in the DR today, who you like?

Brent Besancon -- Besancon rebuilt programs as a head coach at New London (11-9, 2007-08) and Rittman (6-14 2009-10). New London had been 14-56, while he resigned from Rittman after turning around a 2-38 run under the previous regimes by going 5-5 in 2010.

After previously working for 14 years as an assistant at his alma mater of Smithville, Besancon returned to its staff this past fall to help a team that went 8-3 and reached the playoffs. He was also a finalist for the Wooster job, which went to Doug Haas.

Eric Brock -- Newcomerstown head coach the last four years (15-25 record), six years prior to that as an assistant at Waynedale. Played at Uniontown Lake and on two Div. III national title teams at Mount Union.

Anthony Hayes -- Has been an assistant for 15 years at Green (Summit County), where he's also the head wrestling coach.

Brian Hessey -- Two stints as head coach at Chippewa, including leading the Chipps to their last WCAL title and only playoff appearance in 1999. Also has spent time as head coach at Bloomdale Elmwood and worked briefly as an assistant at Smithville.

Paul Yappel -- Akron Hoban assistant for eight years.

personally, I would go for brent or hessey. Hessey is a solid coach that went in to a real tough situation his last time in chipp land.

This looks like a done deal. 3 of the 5 are on the list to make it look like they have a pool of candidates! If this is the best they could come up with why didn't they just give the job to BB a month ago?
  • THE4RINGZ
If those were the best qualified candidates to apply Smithville didn't look too hard.
  • BlackSmith
    Rings.................

Your right, sure would like to see who the 25 rejected were

I doubt they looked at all

The BOE needed to let the dust settle. These people are elected and they can't allow their treacherous acts to be easily traced back to them. This fake search is all part of the dog & pony show.

+1.....if you guys think this wasn't decided way back in December, well then, Miyagi would have to disagree with you
  • THE4RINGZ
Whoever is unfortunate enough to get the Smithville job is merely a transitional coach, someone to put some distance between the deSchrockale the BOE dreamed up and the real coach of the future.

I wonder if that is why the list of applicants was so weak?

It's always a challenge to get a successful head coach to go to a school that's not their Alma mater. If they were successful at another small school, they tend to stay there or move up to larger division rather than to another small school. Usually they get to choose from assistant coaches, and head coaches with less than stellar track records. Most of the time it ends up being your best move to go with a successful assistant coach from your home school that isn't likely to use you as a stepping stone
  • Coach_08
I agree guys, the list is interesting and questionable. I think IMO Brent is the best choice, but we will have to wait and see.
  • elitesmithie05
Brent was the only choice from the beginning. Look how poor we played while he was HC elsewhere....
  • Red Right 21
I don't question who the best is out of these 5 guys. I question the motivation around the process and feel bad for the 4 others who are pawns in this process!
This almost smells as bad as the Schrock "retirement"!

Ringz! I told you to put your name in there! You surely could've made it into the top 5! Not to mention if you told them your assistant coaches would be from OC, they would greatly appreciate the positive press :p

Kevin Wolf walked into a nightmare of a situation, one in which one prominent HOF coach told him to run away from as fast as possible.
Anyone who thinks Coach Wolf doesn't know football, or what it takes to have a successful program, well, just doesn't know football him or herself
  • M Plant
what Wolf - or any successful coach - needs, 1st and foremost, is community support.

as far as Smithville goes, if chosen, Besancon will do a great job, although that's hardly breaking news
  • 1_beast
That list is a joke. Frankie got his brother in. Sometimes its not what you know, its who you know.

You can not tell me that is the best 5 out of 30 applicants.
  • 1_beast
Mike, I hope you have a speedy recovery. The back ninjas are the devil.
