dontcareBobcats looked pretty good tonight. New QB Joe Dreher looked real good in the first half as it was 40-0 with Norwayne scoring on every possession. Jon Zimmerly sat out the entire 2nd half. This kid is a freaking beast. If he stays healthy, he will be hands down the WCAL MVP. With Z in the offense, I don't think anybody can stop them. The test for Norwaynes defense will be next week against CVCA, but I think the Cats will still score at will.

Did anyone from the marching band score tonight? -
THE4RINGZBeing able to score quickly is the key to beating CVCA you won't have many touches on O as they will ground and pound you.

I didn't know Norwayne had a band......THE4RINGZ;1254363 wrote:Did anyone from the marching band score tonight? -

Wasn't that going to be their game plan last year too?......didn't work, I think the Cats beat them by 40......THE4RINGZ;1254364 wrote:Being able to score quickly is the key to beating CVCA you won't have many touches on O as they will ground and pound you. -

Go back and read my post carefully. I said you have to be able to score quickly, obviously Norwayne's gameplan. -
Red RumCVCA got pounded by Woodrige 55-0 tonight according to the TV. How much of a test are they going to be for Norwayne?

Not much apparently. -

2 possibilities...THE4RINGZ;1254376 wrote:First night jitters tonight?
1. Woodridge is tough
2. CVCA sucks
either way I'm not betting against Norwayne -
iced earthNorwayne is by far the class of the league...I hate to say this, but if the rest of the league doesn't win some games in the next 2 weeks, the Cats may be in a situation like Hillsdale was last year.
-
Havin FunCould Chippewa get a win this year? Sounds like Rittman could be the sacrificial lamb for them. Strasbaugh not playing tonight probably cost the Bears the game. The D was solid with the only score on a Tusky Valley returned fumble. Bears played 3-4 freshman, some both ways. That class is loaded. Sounds like Norwayne, Hillsdale an NW fight for 1,2,3. I think the Bears And Smithies battle it out for 4th.

was_that_itPretty proud of the Falcons. Very good win. Sloppy game, Hillsdale looked pretty sorry in the first quarter, second quarter things started to click on O and D. Looks like a few slight changes were made and the boys responded well to the rough start. Hillsdale's backs have some speed, almost reminds me of Dalton's backs a few years ago, not overly big but quick. Not sure if Manchester's QB had an "off" night, if the pressure got him rattled or maybe a few missed throws, threw him off???? Kid has a very nice arm and he overthrew a couple I bet he wishes he had back. Very talented kid, effortless passer, really was fun to watch. For Hillsdale, very nice starting block to build on. Fun game to watch....other than the officals....pretty bad for both teams. At least they were consistenly bad.

O-TrapJust got back from Smithville. Yikes.
It was a perfect example of how important line play is. Smithville had the more skilled skill players. Buss and Bates did well, and Shane did pretty well also.
The lines, however, got worked on both sides of the ball. Bates was pressured all night in the backfield, and their running game was incredibly effective because of the holes created by the O-line.
Loudonville is a good team, this year. Their line blocks well on offense. Their runners run hard and break tackles. Their defensive line is disciplined.
The bright spots for the Smithies:
- The passing game was surprisingly effective compared to the typical Smithville offense. Bates looked sharp, and the receivers were running good routes and making the catches.
- The returners are good. Buss is established as an effective runner, but their other return man, Blough, looks good too. Very fast.
- Bates is becoming a true full-package QB. Threw well tonight, and ran VERY well tonight.
- The running game was making plays sometimes without having much to work with.
- The play calling was solid. The coaches made what seemed to be pretty good calls under the circumstances.
- The line is big enough, but they've gotta play tougher. They couldn't open holes on offense, and they didn't plug them on defense. I think the safety had the most tackles on the night.
- Broken tackles were plentiful tonight. With a slash-and-dash runner, they might have not looked so bad, but LHS's running back (Edington?) was a tough, physical runner. If they don't shore up the broken tackles, Norwayne's Zimmerly is going to have a field day when that week rolls around.
- STAMINA! The offense looked pretty gassed toward the end of the game, when they still had a shot at keeping it close or even winning. Walking to the line of scrimmage and jogging off the field instead of sprinting. I think running is in this team's practice future.

THE4RINGZSchrock would not have lost this game. Read the list of negatives and tell me that isn't completely opposite of a Schrock coached team.

Go FalconsI did not see Santa , the Easter Bunny or Bigfoot on the way to Homer City but my Falcons still proved most of the OCers wrong and pulled a win from the clutches of the boys in Zebra stripes.
I am not sure if total yards for both teams will be positive after penalties. I saw fewer flags in front of the UN building than I saw tonight, and half the time the ref's were not sure what to do with them when they did throw them.
The Falcons started slow but eventually got into their groove and took over the second half. I was most impressed with the D line who man handled the Manchester line and were in the QB's face or on top of him all night. The Falcon secondary still needs work but did better than expected.
On a side note. On the way up ,just south of Canal Fulton, this object landed right in the middle of the road and who steps out? Non-other than Elvis and he said Go Falcons! before he flew off. My wife even got a sweaty scarf from him (no Red you can not use it for an accessory for your pink dress).

Eh, a similar performance from week 1 last year, and Shock was indeed at the helm.THE4RINGZ;1254408 wrote:Schrock would not have lost this game. Read the list of negatives and tell me that isn't completely opposite of a Schrock coached team.
We'll see the response to this, and THAT will be a better indicator. -
Old DawgHave to agree with dhs22p, Dalton looked better than last year. However I"m not quite sure how much closer it should have been besides 42-6. Love my dawgs, but I thought the final score was an indication of how the game played out. First half was very competitive, pups had a few turnovers and went into halftime down 14-0. Defense played a solid first half, secondary played well and the defensive line was getting some pressure on the qb. Then in the second half things just gradually went downhill. Few kids got banged up a bit, Garaway scores a quick td on a punt return and next thing you know it's 42-0. We managed to punch one in the endzone when both jv teams were on the field. Thought the kids played hard and and it was good to see a garaway kid hurl on the field, sweet! Looking forward to the Tuslaw game next week and hopefully getting our first win. Go Dawgs!

I agree we did improve alot from last yr we move the ball alot better. bad turnovers killed good drives , big plays from garaway and they have alot more speed !dhs22p;1254338 wrote:Dogs lost 42-6. Lot closer than that score. Dalton is much improved and should be an interesting game against Tuslaw. -
THE4RINGZMore speed than Dalton is saying something.

alot of it in the second half the youth kick in and plus we were getting tired chasing after them !Old Dawg;1254420 wrote:Have to agree with dhs22p, Dalton looked better than last year.
