MAC rules bar none ...

Just curious if any of the players on the Delphos team actually live outside of Delphos.

Alot of this talk is just messing with my head.

To get back to the pure numbers talk with the MAC......

Since 1981 the MAC is 180-36 (83.3%) in the playoffs against NON MAC teams.

    Not too shabby.

And since 1989 the MAC is 175-30 (85%) against NL teams in the postseason.

Of course they do. Not everyone who attends DSJ or DJ lives inside the Delphos corporation limits. I guarantee not everyone who plays for Coldwater, Kenton, etc... lives inside the city corporation limits. I grew up a mile outside of Delphos and attended DSJ. My neighbors across the road went to DJ. Now if you're talking about Delphos city school district, we might have some who live outside the school district as might Jefferson. But with open enrollment as prevalent as it is, I'd guess many, if not most, public schools have athletes who live outside their school district.

skyotk, your school example #3, you can market to everyone but there's always a large crowd that just ain't buying, no matter what. DSJ can saturate the media with marketing but there's a significant percentage out there that would never attend DSJ under any circumstances, no matter how good we were at academics or athletics or anything else.

Delphos St John has been a good fit in the MAC. Of comparative size, competitive but not dominant. In a few of the mac sports they are not very at all. League members are not about to ask them to leave like the NWC did Lima Central Catholic.
Now whether Anna should be in the league is another matter all together.

Personally, I love open enrollment. I never understood where the idea came about that you have to attend the school in the city where you live. As long as you can get the kid to and from school I say attend whatever school you want. I went to DSJ, and if someone told me I had to attend Jefferson or any other school for that matter I would have been mad. (I lived in Delphos btw just a hypothetical). Let families decide where they want to send their kid and stop tar and feathering schools just because people want to send their kids there.

Thats exactly what I was talking about. If it's only a couple players it's no different than any other school. It makes everyones private school argument pointless.

Just out of curiosity if all school are the same then why was LCC not voted in when they applied to the MAC?
  • isadore
I guess they are not considered the same.

The MAC had options. Versailles, LCC, or Lehman. Versailles was coming off one of the best runs in ohio football history. LCC at that time did not have its own gym and football was not so hot at the time.

Not the story I heard. If it's true then no reason not to expand the MAC again and let LCC in, I hear they are looking to join a new league:) Big School, little school divisions.

It would have been better to have picked another school but Anna for that slot. But beyond that why expand one of the most successful athletic conference in Ohio. Why mess with near perfection, winning many championships in a wide variety of sports.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing LCC joining. Geographically they are a little far north. DSJ for that matter is a little out of the way for most MAC schools except Parkway. The only problem I have with LCC right now is their football coach. Plus if you add LCC you have two successful private schools in one conference, and you know how people feel about successful private schools...
