Region 13 - Week 13 Championship: Norwayne (11-1) vs. Girard (11-1)
-
ICBMIt would appear nobody from Norwayne is actually interested in this game. Seemed to be a lot of interest in the Orville game so I thought this would be an interesting week. Guess they already won their Super Bowl.
Anyway, it looks like both teams will be looking in a mirror to prepare and play this week. Identical offenses and game plans. Throw when it's there but for the most part, let the QB run the ball. Or hand it off to a very capable running back. Girard has seen a couple spread teams this year and for the most part done well. Haven't seen a QB of this size who can and does run. Containing him will be the key I would guess. Wallace will likely get his share of good runs just because of the spread opening up so many running lanes.
I don't see any overpowering linemen or backers so Girard should be able to move the ball using pretty much the same philosophy. The spread will get Wallace out of the middle and onto a WR or back out of the backfield to open the run for Graz. The deep threat of #3, Byrd will stretch the field and probably get a little extra coverage to try and take that weapon away. I think both teams are going to come in believeing they will need to score with every posession and try to get an early lead. I know Girard has done that very consistantly. If they don't, it will be interesting to see their reaction. The couple close games they did have in the first half produced better results in the second half as the kids seemed to buckle down and get it done. Looking at the scoreing comparison for both teams, once again it's a mirror image.
Norwayne will be the best team we have seen to date so it's going to be a good one. The QB with the hot hand, or hot feet as the case may be, will likely lead their team to victory. But the defenses often get overlooked in high scoring offenses and that may be the key..... to be continued. Gotta go to work! -

There were very few Norwayne posters posting last week, too. It was mostly Orrville and area fans. (Orrville probably has the most Chatterers on this site. Don't take offense to Bobcat fans not posting much. They've been hit or miss all season long.ICBM;973546 wrote:It would appear nobody from Norwayne is actually interested in this game. O-TrapAll the Bobcat fans seemed to disappear after the Smithville game except for the ones who have been active beyond just when the team started winning big (basically, the die-hards).
-
THE4RINGZEven though you don't see any posts from Bobcat fans, rest assured they are reading every word written here.
-
1_beastI can assure you that Norwayne has linebackers that can play, as well as defensive backs that are talented and have some height. The spread will more than likely not take Wallace out of the midddle!
-
oldsmithieI think Norwayne is just quietly going about getting prepared. Since the Smithville game, I am sure the coach has put a gag order on the team!
-
oldsmithieICBM: I actually lived in the Warren- Y-Town area from 83 to 95 and got to watch Nick Cochron play! He was a great athlete in his time.

RedRider1Winner plays Region 15 (Johnstown Monroe or Coshocton) winner per OHSAA.
Avoiding Kenton/Hartley until week 15 is a good thing. -

Norwayne fan here. Coach may have put a gag order on any team players posting but not me or any other adults....as far as I know. After bobcatmom appeared on here the posters here pretty much put her back into her hole.... Norwayne is running on all cylinders right now and playing with a lot of confidence. I am looking forward to the game on Sat. I'm hoping the cats will not be thinking about last year when playing on this field again. Coach's will have them as ready as they can be. I'm guessing this is going to be a very high scoring game. GO CATSoldsmithie;974101 wrote:I think Norwayne is just quietly going about getting prepared. Yea Nick was the real deal in both football and basketball. Divisional Ohio player of the year in both..two years in a row! He was outstanding in basketball from the three point line. But that was then and this is now and he has brought all that confidence with him and is trying to instill it in the kids.oldsmithie;974106 wrote:ICBM: I actually lived in the Warren- Y-Town area from 83 to 95 and got to watch Nick Cochron play! Word is everyone is coming in healthy and hungry for this one. Should be a bruiser! -
dontcareHas Girard ever been this deep in the playoffs?
-
LocoEngineer66I was impressed with Girard this past Saturday. This game should be a lot tougher for them.
-
Whispering eyeNorwayne has a VERY good linebacker in john wilson, he may be small but that kid gets all over the field and isnt afraid to hit anyone.

I dout anybody really cares about the BBall team right now......well maybe the AD.....Bobcat;972412 wrote:Norwayne has many football players on the basketball team. IMO 4 of the top 6 on the team will spend this weekend on the football field. You'll recognize the names. Berger and Wallace both started last year and you have Maibach and Harris. All 4 of them are 6'1 or taller. This deep run is definitely going to hurt the bball team for awhile -

RedRiderJohnstown Monroe should win and Norwayne. Then I see Norwayne winning, then losing to Kenton. Johnstowns running back is a beast.

BTrevGood luck to Girard!!
-
bobcat14Norwayne fans are here.....a few like to get on here and run their mouths about how we will destroy Girard......I dont think that is the case....this will be a battle for both teams. Both teams, from what i hear, are the same....good QB's, RB, OL,DL, and DEF.....what more could you ask for in a Regional Final!!!!!.....
As far as a "let down" after the Orrville game....I dont think so. These boys are taking one game at a time..... to the them Orrville was just another stepping stone to get to the ultimate prize...Orrville week is done and over with and these boys are getting ready for Girard they will be prepared....as will Girard.....
Good Luck both teams!!!!!!!......and LETS GO CATS!!!!!! -
oldsmithieI think bobcat14, just about said it all! Good luck CATS!!
