Week 12...Norwayne Bobcats vs. Orrville Red Riders

  • RedRider1
I agree with the "beat ourselves" logic but I think Norwayne has the team to make us pay for any mistakes we make. We've seen this team overcome mistakes against the average teams (Clear Fork, West Holmes) but pay for mistakes against the good ones (Copley).
If we play turnover free and less than 5 penalties, we'll be a very hard team to beat....but if we make bad decisions that lead to turnovers and have silly penalties that sustain Norwayne drives, it will get interesting.

Let's be honest...our biggest opponent all year has been ourselves. With the exception of maybe the Ashland game. We cut a few mistakes out and we're 10-1 right now at worst.

Is Norwayne's defense an even match with Orrville's defense? No. Look at what the highest powered offenses have done against the Red Rider D.
Is Norwayne's defense an even match with Orrville's offense? No. Can they defend our receivers AND keep an eye on Brenner AND stack the line to shut down Monheim? No.
Orrville loses when they have injuries, turnovers and penalties--not because of lack of talent or they were overmatched.
Orrville is healthy, therefore they will not lose because they were beaten by a better team. They will only lose if they go back to turning the ball over and making dumb penalties.

Norwayne has to play their best if they hope to win, but if Orrville plays their best they can't lose.
This mentallity will get you beat Saturday night. I respect the Orrville program and fans, haven't said much this week, should be a great game. The match-ups have been talked to death, so my 2 cents doesn't matter. Orrville fans should expect a route, but if your players feel the same as above post, they will be in for a lonnng night. (I am sure the players are focused on the game and have respect for their opponent.) Hope all the young men stay safe.

That's the headline that prompted my post. These teams are not evenly matched, but as a coach and a player you have to give all the respect in the world to the other team or you will get beat. Norwayne is not evenly matched with Orrville, but Norwayne will win if they play their best game and capitalize if Orrville makes mistakes like they have in the past. If Orrville plays their best, they will not lose.

I respectfully disagree. I think if both teams play their best, that it will be a great game! Sure, many would think Orrville is the favorite, and I am one of those people. But I expect it to be a good game. If Norwayne wins, it will be because they were the better team tomorrow night, played better and executed better. If Orrville wins, it will be because they were the better team tomorrow night, played better and executed better. To think anything else, IMO, like "if Norwayne wins it will have been because Orrville made mistakes", is an injustice to both these teams.

Lets be careful what we say, I remember a lot of people thinking we were going to blow Triway away last year also in the playoffs, if I recall it went right down to the wire.

Slow that horse your on down, Norwayne is a great football team and has the talent to win this game....I've seen them in person twice. If we give them the opportunities to take the lead, or give them the ball...they have the guys to make us pay for it.

Trust me, the coaches and players have one thing on their mind...beating Norwayne! They will respect the opponent just like they do every single week and go into the game with the Red Rider Swag and give their best effort to win the game......as will the Bobcats.

I agree, NO excuses! Whoever wins was the better team that night....and like coach Davault said in the paper, no matter what the outcome is, this single game should not define either program. Best of luck to both teams.

I just want to see a great football game between two great communities battling for their season to continue.....and hopefully my Red Riders will come out on top! :D

    GO RIDERS!

Well said 4QuarterPounders. Only way the Riders don't win this game is if they beat themselves. With us being at full strength we are the Mighty Red Riders and I see none stopping us in this region. Go Riders!

Starting to sound like Genoa :D

I'm putting together a little something special for tonight/tomorrow... I need a little help. Can someone please tell me of somebody on Norwayne's football team that is being recruited for college football? (or for any college sport, really) Thanks! I'd appreciate a list of teams interested, and their preferred school, if known.

We don't wanna sound like Genoa... We all know where that leaves u.

nice video! I would be ready to play after that one.

Everybody says they want to see a good game, so my question to you is what does that mean? A good game in my eyes is a Rider Victory but I like the kind of games like last week and Wooster. I like to see us doninate. Now I don't think that will happen this week because we are playing a good team, but a good game for me is a blow out win. It is easier for me to watch and relax that way. Lol!

That is a great point rrfan! I would have to agree with that assesment....I think this game could and probably will be very close. As long as the Riders win though, that's all that matters to me! :D
