I live a block from Indian Creek highschool and take my kids to Steubenville. Thank God for open enrollment.Cthelites;956724 wrote:They all went to Wintersville. They are brothers and lived under the same roof. Yes they lived in Steuby but that area is Creek school district. -

But seriously, You'd think that with only two weeks, max, left in their season they'd be soaking it up while they'd be taking advantage of their own thread. It's prob hard for them to find if it's not on the first three pages as they can't count any higher than that. Maybe that's why they can get further than the third round.
Heck, you could be the coach at Dover and still take it or leave it. -

Just stating facts. Some on here act like their boys are all home grown Big Red kids.I Am Ahab;956733 wrote:It's called open enrollment. Why would that cincy QB choose creek over Big Red when he lives in Steubenville? Not much of a commute. If he had chose IC he'd be that intermural flag football QB right now.
And really???? I guess Zach didnt elevate his team?
Im sure if he went to IC he would have sucked so bad IC would have won any games and he would never have gone to college right? -

goldenwarriorWard 6 in Steubenville was annexed into the city in the late 50's or early 60's. Prior to that it was township. It was always part of what is now Indian Creek School District. Until open enrollment, the only people I know of that went to SHS from that part of town were the Medich's and the Bryan's - for obvious reasons. BTW, Mr Medich was a football standout at Wintersville. The Colloras' and Wally Pesuit are probably the best known Ward 6 boys that went to Wintersville. Before open enrollment, just about everybody considered themselves Wintersville people and had no desire to go downtown for school. Guess things change. Today kids go where they think they have the best opportunity.
Giannamore's is best, followed by Bruno's. Haven't had Rays or Dicarlos downtown, so can't make a judgement on it. Dicarlos west end was aweful last time I had it. -

So your saying that if someone's dad, grandad, or great uncle once went to Wintersville then they, by default, are supposed to go there too. And if not they are recruited and it's unfair??goldenwarrior;956877 wrote:Ward 6 in Steubenville was annexed into the city in the late 50's or early 60's. Prior to that it was township. BTW, go ahead and send your RB Ludewig back then because he went to Harding. You guys must have cheated and recruited him. -

You must not have done well on those state tests where you had to read a paragraph and then summarized it. Nothing in my post said anything like that. I was simply pointing out that before open enrollment virtually no one in ward six had any desire to go to school downtown. And while ward six is in Steubenville geographically, it has always been part of what is now Indian Creek. by the way, way back in the early 60's there was anreally good running back for WHS who transferred to Steubenville and played there for a couplenyears...the name was Yetts. -

ManO'WarTubbo went all through the Big Red system, as did his two brothers, they lived on Lincoln Hts....and the was mid to late 80's.
We had a Yetts transfer in the late 70's, but that Yetts, Vance, not only went to Big Red and Wintersville, but also Catholic Central...3 different schools in 3 different years. -

RedBlackAttackRays is really good. I actually prefer it over Giannamore's when I'm back that way. I've never been a huge fan of Bruno's.
My all-time favorite is still Iggy's on Pleasant Heights, which closed several years back. Their pizza at lunchtime was just... My god.
