Orrville 5-3 (3-2) @ Clear Fork 3-5 (2-3)

OQBWell let's get this game thread started. I have one thing to say to start this out:
We have one mission this week and that is to serve up some payback from last year's game.
Hardwork, Focus, and Teamwork
GO RIDERS! -
Old RiderCopley ....L
Lexington W
Senior.......L
West Holmes..W
Ashland....L
Madison...W
Clear Fork...
Lets hope this (W - L) pattern doesn't continue...GO RIDERS! -
5knotsI'm with you on that!! We need to heal quickly and improve this week and next. Don't want to limp into week 11..... literally.
-
RedRider1Stats guru Drew Pastuer (Fantastic 50) says we can lose the last two...and it would still take a "perfect storm" for us to NOT make the playoffs. A win this week officially clinches a playoff berth and according to him, we have a better than 90% chance of hosting a first round game.
Not that I want to go down that road, but it's very interesting.
If Norwayne and Girard both win out, we're battling Black River for 3rd place in the region. Root for Lex to beat Senior this week, and we get 2nd level points if Lex wins, but not if Senior wins.
Very possible that a Orrville/Norwayne showdown could happen as early as week 12......but we'll talk about that in a few weeks. -
footballnutI dont see Norwayne beating Smithville and Hillsdale back to back. I assume dropping one of those two games will drop them out of the top 4...wouldnt it?
-
CCRollyFirst of all, Clear Fork lost to Wooster...so you guys had better win. Second of all, if Norwayne/Orrville happens...I'm guessing it goes down at Follis Field. Enjoy the sightlines. And lastly, it's 12 days until Wooster/Orrville and McCreary still sucks!

The top 4 are pretty well set as the top 3 could all possibly lose 1 game and still maintain top 4 spots. Black River at #4 has Firelands at 8-0 this week and 0-8 Keystone next week so they could drop below 4th after week 10, if they lose to Firelands this week. Even a 6-4 record could still give us a home game in week 11 !!!! Unbelievable but still possible. Still too many ifs out there to know for sure. Just win and eliminate all the ifs for us and let the others worry about :thumbup:footballnut;936513 wrote:I dont see Norwayne beating Smithville and Hillsdale back to back. Too many turf fields around now to use Follis Field. Maybe Medina, close for both , or Central Catholic.CCRolly;936555 wrote:First of all, Clear Fork lost to Wooster...so you guys had better win. I disagree with that. No one, I mean no one has challenged Norwayne yet. They have one of those teams of a generation.footballnut;936513 wrote:I dont see Norwayne beating Smithville and Hillsdale back to back. I assume dropping one of those two games will drop them out of the top 4...wouldnt it? -

Atleast they may see how their starters respond to playing the entire 3rd and 4th quarters. I would want my starters to feel some pressure and what its like to play with a game on the line. Because when they get to the playoffs, they wont' be playing Rittman, Chippewa, Dalton, Waynedale, and Northwestern!!5knots;936667 wrote:I disagree with that. The game wouldn't be mandated to be on turf being in week 12...so it could very well be at Follis...but with Norwayne the likely higher seed, I would hope some consideration for the lack of visitor seating and the FACT that Orrville would bring twice the amount of fans than there would be seats. Unless it's ordered that Norwayne be the home team but have the visiting stands (like the 2006 regional final where Orrville (away team) played Mooney (home team) but sat on the home side)......but that wouldn't be fair to Norwayne who would likely have the support of every fellow WCAL school...and overfill the stands too.riders1;936630 wrote:Too many turf fields around now to use Follis Field. Easy solution is to play the game at Medina....a place we won 2 games last year.....that would be an awesome atmosphere. -
Old RiderRR1...there you go talking about an Orrville-Norwayne matchup already! Still atleast 3 and maybe 4 weeks till that occurs. Lots of football left....but I sure hope it happens!

Wooster still has a football field? -
Old Rider
Well, techically its a soccer, lacrosse, and band performing field....that just so happens to have some field goal posts!!THE4RINGZ;936769 wrote:Wooster still has a football field? -
THE4RINGZGirls lacrosse, huge difference, but on point with everything else.

Wooster can not host a playoff game in Week 12 due to it's annual holiday craft show. There is not enough parking. They never bid on a game that week for that reason because they can't accommodate both.RedRider1;936758 wrote:The game wouldn't be mandated to be on turf being in week 12...so it could very well be at Follis...but with Norwayne the likely higher seed, I would hope some consideration for the lack of visitor seating and the FACT that Orrville would bring twice the amount of fans than there would be seats. Good point.
OQB,
Duh....I knew that. Thanks. -
riders1Medina is just a short drive up 3 from Creston and 57 from Orrville.

True but they have not played a real good team yet either.5knots;936667 wrote:I disagree with that. No one, I mean no one has challenged Norwayne yet. They have one of those teams of a generation. -
RiderfanMiss all the old Clear Fork posters...a good bunch. Field should be sloppy, but isn't it every time we play there. Hang onto the ball and we should be ok.
-
riders1Yeh, it's kind of a waste to have game threads and not have any respondents from the other teams, ( except our fave trolls ) might as well just stay with the main Orrville football thread and get the post numbers up higher
-
RedRider1Next week wont be any better with CCRolly as the only Woo poster. Every school should have half a dozen posters. Should be a law.
