RIP.Soroka.89Pride. You hit the nail right on the head to a point.
How many of you have ever been reached out to from the gridiron club for support? I haven't. This school has a way of disassociating itself from its past.
They always say 'once a red devil, always a red devil' and 'the same road that takes you out of Campbell is the same one that leads you back', but what's ever being done by the school to invite and welcome anyone back? -
RIP.Soroka.89Soldier, please send me info so we can promote the hell out of this.

I was a trustee in the gridiron club back in the mid 1990's. A few of the members and myself reached out to the gridiron club back in 1994. We wanted to sell tickets to raffle off a brand new Chevrolet Cavalier. We got the idea from Warren JFK high school, which raffled off a Corvette. A big promoter of this was the father of the Campbell QB in 1994, a good friend of mine, a man with many, many connections at General Motors. We went through the usual protocol at the meetings, and managed to get the idea put up for a vote. We had confidence that this could be done and it would have placed a lot of money into the gridiron club's treasury. Well, when the meeting for the vote came, other officers of the gridiron club had "stacked" the meeting with other gridiron club members who promised to vote no on my idea. And the idea was voted down. I thought it was very funny because as you know there are usually no more than 20 people at a gridiron meeting, usually the same people each and every week. But when the meeting in which the vote would be taken took place there were 50 or so people there. As I mentioned, my idea was voted down. And the next week, the gridiron was back to its usual 20 or so people in attendance. The other 30 who came the previous week disappeared. And then the officers wondered why I refused to continue on as a trustee when the election of officers meeting came up and why I will not to this day help them out on gamedays. True story fellas.RIP.Soroka.89;923909 wrote:Pride. You hit the nail right on the head to a point.

Very pathetic. I would do the same myself.BigDean1;924130 wrote:I was a trustee in the gridiron club back in the mid 1990's. cmhs_prideTrust me when they say they need young blood in there..... They better be careful what they wish for.

oldschoolreddevI agree pride. The gridiron club needs to step up and use some of that money instead of sitting on it. Good luck Red Devils.

BigDean1Campbell wins over Champion 35-8. I thought the defense played very well tonight. Some good things happened regarding Campbell opponents and teams ahead of Campbell in region 17 tonight. The game next week at Girard is huge.

reddevil90Congrats Campbell on a good win... We will need to play like we never played before. Remember we should have one both of those games we lost to. The city will play a big part in this game. We need to let them know we are behind them 100% from start to end. Make noise i mean we will have to make noise so people in Campbell will hear it. Get behind them and help them get this win... Last year was last year. This Girard team is a different beast.

oldschoolreddevThe support of this team is pathetic. But that is what you get when you turn your back on your own alumni. I could go on and on about how the administration doesn't support alums. The saying "Once a Red Devil, Always A Red Devil" is true only to a certain point. Now, the city will have no bearing on this game. What will decide this game will be how well we contain Graziano and the Girard offense. Our defense played well in spots, not enough to make me say they are improved. Champion got to the edge quite easily, and had some wide open receivers last night. That spells doom against Girard. It also seems like we don't have an identity on offense other than Jales. Good luck Red devils.

It's a shame that we cannot even come close to filling up the Campbell side of the stadium. Last night was the best night for football in the entire season. I'm not sure the support will ever come back to the point where it once was. oldschool is correct, we did not defend the edge all that well and the Champion QB missed some open receivers. Despite that, the starters pitched a shutout. But that will not happen vs. Girard unless we play our best game of the season and then some. Coach Zetts needs to come up with a good offensive game plan vs. Girard. Sitting in that stacked-I like we did last season vs. Girard is more than likely not going to work. We need to use our receivers and hope to execute. I can see running the ball and why it could be implemented because that strategy is to control the clock and to keep the Girard offense on the sidelines. On the other hand does Girard have enough athletes on defense to cover all of our wide receivers? I had this discussion with sonnyblack and cmhs_pride last night at the game. We agreed that Campbell will need to open it up vs. Girard.oldschoolreddev;925984 wrote:The support of this team is pathetic. But that is what you get when you turn your back on your own alumni. oldschoolreddevAccording to Joe Eitel, we are currently holding down the 8th spot. If this game wasn't big enough already, it just got a little bigger. It will be interesting to see if we can step up to the plate.
