Week 6: Orrville (3-2, 1-1) vs West Holmes (4-1, 2-0)

  • RedRider1
Trips to Millersburg are never fun...and after what I saw Friday at Mansfield, and with WH coming off huge win....I dont even think you could call the Riders favorites.

It will be a repeat of the week following the Copley loss...lots of nervous fans and uncertainty surrounding the program.

Riders simply have to stop killing themselves with penalties and turnovers.

Have to get more creative on offense...dont know if it's playcalling, or a lack of execution, but our passing game is the WR screen and the sideline fade.....pretty easy to scout if you ask me. We have too much talent to be that limited in our playbook.

I'm sure the Knights will be on Cloud 9 and they have every right to be....but the thing about the OCC is you have to bring it each and every week.

knights will see if they are for real this week. They are having a very nice season so far, it may just continue this week.

This season has turned into a roller coaster.....Now Roller Coaster rides are always meant to be fun, but I think we better take this one seriously. Hold on tight Rider Faithful, we don't know what is lurking in the distance!

Now, humor aside...This team STILL has it's goals in sight and can still do a lot of damage. Like a lot of the posts on the Orrville thread, we don't really put a lot of emphasis going on 10-0 every year because in reality we don't really have to with our schedule. Sure it is always a goal, but it's always the first "goal" given up as we usually enter league play at 2-1....almost every single year. That says a lot about our SOS. Again, are league is very good and if you don't show up on a Friday night, no matter how many college recruits you have, you will get beat, and we have witnessed that this year.

Life is a lot like this season, everything doesn't go to plan, and there are always unexpected hurdles that pop up out of nowhere. The coaching staff can/should/will use this to teach these young men about life, which is ultimately more important than the wins and losses. Graduating young men of character, high morals, and preparing them for the real world is a big part of a coaches job that nobody really talks about. Football is probably the best sport to teach those life lessons.

Senior leadership has been strong all year and something that is not in question. I think it is time they take the next step and maybe hold a players only meeting or something....get some things off each other's chest and help this team grow stronger together and play as 1.

I'm a Red Rider at heart and always will be. Let's right this ship, get on a mission and let nothing come in our way of that ultimate goal!

    Go Riders!

Orrville is the premiere program in the area. Not sure WH has the talent to stay with a Monheim, Turner, Brenner, etc. The Knights are still young, with skill position players occupied mainly by jr's and soph's. They have not witnessed a winning varsity season since 2006 at 7-3, and are just now learning how to win. Staying grounded after last week's huge win will be the first task this week in practice, but coach K and the troops will do a good job of that!

Through 5 games, our defense has been the biggest improvement overall. However, we are still making mistakes that let the big play get by us. Can't do that against the D1 recruits or the game will be out of control early. Last year's game was tied 6-6 at half until Orrville decided to open up their can. This is basically the same team for WH, so results could be the same. Let's hope for a another great football game in a rivalry that spreads over multiple sports between these two schools.

This will be a true test for WH "O", as this wll likely be the best "D" they face all season. Great win against Ashland, but this is not an Ashland team of when they had Housewright or Fuller, great skill kids and a good "D". Ashland "D" was incredibly poor, but nontheless a great win for WH as they had never beaten the Arrows. I think WH will hang with Orrville in this one. Orrville has shown no explosiveness on "O" this season and WH has been moving the ball. I do look for Monheim to have about 300 tackles vs. the WH wing t though. This game could go either way as with all of the OCC this season. There doesn't seem to be one or two really strong teams as in the past few seasons when Ashland, Orrville or Lex were very strong teams and made deep playoff runs.

If our offense gets going, we will be just fine. That is not a knock on the Knights, however...

More penalties/turnovers and WH will have a chance.

Coshocton fans are pulling for the Knights! ;)

Hearing some rumors about Monheim not being able to play? Is this true? Also heard it's not due to an injury.
  • RedRider1
^^First I've heard. Maybe some others can fill us in. Why else would he not play if it's not due to injury?

Haven't heard that. He did break a bone in his hand last Friday night, but will be playing this Friday according to my sources.

Mason broke his hand in the first quarter of Senior game. Set it himself between plays. Bone was sticking up pushing on his glove. He just pulled like heck on his little finger until the bone set itself in place and never removed his glove and never told a anyone until after the game. If he can play most of an entire game with a broken hand I think he is fully capable of playing with a cast on. Just a little awkward. Why on earth would he not play for any other reason??? I would be very interested in what you heard 300.
He is a 3.98 student a never been in trouble aside from punching a classmate in the 5th grade for lippin' off ...lol.

  • Mr. 300
Heard he was involved in a fight after the game? Source has Orrville connections, but obviously is not true, so good to hear that.
  • Mr. 300

Both teams sit at # 8 in their regions, so lots at stake point wise this Friday night.

First time in a long time that the OHSAA beat Joe Eitel in getting points updated.

Joe was traveling to/from Thailand according to his site. Let's give him a pass on this one...as long as he behaved.

Hope the Orrville defense can hold down this "unstoppable" WH running attack.

Thanks to the Daily Record for the bulletin board material.
