The Raiders host POWERADE FAB 50 No. 3 De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) Friday in a marquee showdown on ESPN2. The St. Thomas defense will look to slow down Elite 11 QB Bart Houston and the rest of the Spartan offense. Dealing with De La Salle's defense, with perhaps four Division I future college linebackers, also will be a challenge.
The Spartans' defense improved in its second game, pitching a shutout in a 35-0 win at St. Mary's (Stockton, Calif.). The defense even scored when junior linebacker D.J. Moffett picked off a pass and ran it back 38 yards for a touchdown. On offense, running backs Tiapepe Vitale (16 carries, 114 yards, one TD) and Dasmond Tuatalatasi (14 carries, 96 yards, one TD) were the standouts. De La Salle leaves Wednesday for Florida where it will face No. 2 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) -
O-TrapI'm just sad they don't play Long Beach Poly anymore. That matchup was always epic!

SpeedofsandDe La Salle's QB is a Wisconsin commit. Supposed to be great but has had a rough season so far.
STA's Jelani Hamilton is a Miami commit, I'm hoping he changes his mind. He will be in the NFL in 4 years.
The Raiders, who won a share of last year's national title and are ranked No. 2 by ESPN, have already earned a win against top competition, defeating Alabama Prattville 34-31 to open the season. At the time, Prattville was ranked No. 1in the nation by Rivals.com
De La Salle's last loss came in 2009 when another Florida team, Lakeland, earned a 31-30 overtime win. -
Speedofsand45 minute lightning delay before they started. STA led 7-0 after 1 qtr. They got up 10-0 but got caught on a 58 yd halfback pass with less than a minute in the half. PAT wide right, 10-6 STA at the half. DLS has a good QB and very good LBs. One of their RBs went out with a knee injury. STA QB Lescano has looked really good. He will be Ivy league next year, 4.8 gpa

Speedofsand24-6 STA, end 3rd qtr. Good clean hard game, DLS is fumbling it away.
