3-1 Struthers at 0-4 East Liverpool "Ashers night"

BTrevSpread may come off as a stubborn A-hole at times, but he's our stubborn A-hole. I've butted heads with him too, but he has remained loyal to Struthers. I'm sure he has a good reason for supporting Ursuline too, sacreligious as it may seem.

Spread All DayI don't see how my personal preferece has anything to do with the game at hand, but oh well. It's raining, that could spell trouble for EL. Will not be attending tonight due to the weather/ gas prices lol. Hopefully I can get updates to post here.

I couldn't agree more with you. I've been a Struthers fan through thick and thin.BigDean1;908010 wrote:Yeah, it is high school football. That's why you should not be condemning the people of Campbell. I have no idea why you are making the statement that "you people already think you're God's gift to earth." If you look down upon Campbell as you state, maybe you shouldn't come to Campbell in week 10. Campbell and Struthers have a rivalry that's existed before you and I were even thought of, which is really a good thing for both communities and for high school football in general. Sometimes you make sense with your posts, for which I have already commended you a few times. But sometimes you don't, such as the one above. I like Struthers to beat East Liverpool.
I could never, ever imagine cheering for Mooney or Ursuline. Never. In any sport.
Always liking the underdog, I always felt sorry for Campbell for the long losing years. We've had more than our share of it for a long time as well.
I like the fact that they're winning now. It will help to bring back the tradition of our great rivalry.
In this day and age, we all need to get out of the mode of looking down at other people and teams. Like it was mentioned, it's just high school football. The old mentalities need to go. -
BTrevI was planning on going, but it probably isn't a good idea to drive an hour each way, just to sit in the rain for 2 and a half hours. I already have a cold.
I'm thinking #44 will put up more big numbers this week. Despite all the turnovers, #6 tore EL apart last year with his legs. Hopefully the Cats can avoid the sloppy mistakes that come with rainy conditions, and get out of EL injury free.
If Struthers can execute the gameplan, and not turn the ball over, I do think they'll win. -

I do not understand the hatred towards the catholic schools! They put Youngstown football on the map! I would love if that was Struthers, but sadly it's not! Like i said, i love valley football. Just certain teams more than others. I understand the mooney and ursuline kids may or may not have a certain "attitude", but they earn it on the field! I can see not rooting for your arch rival, but not rooting for a school because they win is plain out silly.Struthers Fan;908037 wrote:I couldn't agree more with you. Spread All Dayand B-Trev, i too believe #44 gets a lot of carries tonight in the game.

omemorialhighjust calling a spade a spade...Struthers Fan seems to be on the same page as me, must be an old school mentality. I see Campbell kids that go to Memorial wearing Mooney shirts in their free time and im like when I was in high school you wouldve got a good beat down. Just the way it is. Maybe Spread just represents this new school mentality, cheer for everyone and youll never lose. Spread do you have an AL and NL team, AFC and NFC team??? You must be one of those guys LOL I just think its kind of crappy that when your alma mater gets down for awhile (by the way very common with publics) you jump ship and start rooting for one of the best teams in any division in the state lololol come on man...its pathetic and if i was a struthers fan id feel just like Struthers Fan cheering for Ursuline when you graduated from Struthers is pathetic. I wouldnt want you on my side of the stadium.

I've never heard of any "true, hard-core" Struthers fan that would be for Mooney, Ursuline or JFK. It's unheard of. I would be for any team that plays them. And....I went to a parochial school until high school.omemorialhigh;908307 wrote:just calling a spade a spade...Struthers Fan seems to be on the same page as me, must be an old school mentality. Without getting into long, drawn out discussions like many threads, IMO, the parochial schools have an advantage over any public school. You can debate it all you like but it's fact.
Do I let it bother me; why bother? Just deal with it.
That being said, I believe they should have their own playoffs.
Yes, I'm old school. We have our own mentality.
I live in Ca, because I settled here after the service. I come home sometimes twice a year to visit relatives and follow Struthers sports. I was in Canton for the boys regional game against John Hay.
But, I'll tell you one thing: No true Struthers fan cares a 'ratsass' about Mooney or Ursuline. You want them to lose. Another thing, if I was in the area, no amount of rain or driving distance or gas or our record would keep me from a game. Real fans would tell you that. And...we're 3-1 right now. Not like many of the past few years.
You want the teams on your schedule to win all their games, except when they play you. There's nothing wrong with seeing Campbell go 8-2 and all the points we could get by beating them. Like I've said before, I'm for them every week except against Struthers. Another reason I would be for Campbell; their fans aren't arrogant like the private schools.
You can't say you're a true Struthers fan, but "like" Ursuline. It's hypocrisy at the very least. Better off not to call yourself a Struthers fan. -
Spread All DayNo I'm not one of those guys LOL. You're a moron and have no clue what you're talking about. Stop while you're ahead. Struthers up 27-0 end of 3. Campbell loses 19-14 tonight to labrae.

Spread All DayI'm at every Struthers game. I support Ursulines program simply because no one else does. I also support many other local schools that show dignity and respect on and off the field. I've supported Struthers through every bad year, so don't start with that nonsense either. I don't care what you call yourself, and i really dont care if you would drive or not to be completely honest guy. You don't live in the area, so I guess you wouldn't know how Campbell fans or people or players are anymore. Many of the fans live in 1989 still, half the people don't are, and oh yeah. The kids are undisciplined individuals. So no I wouldn't wanna compare Struthers to those people. Not at all.nope. Rooting for a team does not make me any less of a Struthers fan lol. But okay, think what you want. I could have Nephews that play on the team, I could have cousins. You don't know. And for you to say that is plain out idiotic. Done discussing this with either of you, because you both simply do not understand.

BTrevGuess who made the trip afterall...
The Cats were impressive tonight, except that they had 3 PATs blocked. Stewart, Kunzer, Pollifrone, and Kimbrough all ran well. Kimbrough did throw an interception, but he did throw a TD too. #29 had a pick 6 with about a minute left to put the game on ice.
The D played pretty well.
I hope the kid who got hurt is ok. They did take him off in an ambulance. I think he was #4 for Struthers.
Big game against LaBrae next week. -
BTrevEAST LIVERPOOL
Tom Kimbrough passed for 175 yards including a 15-yard touchdown to Dylan Duchek. Kimbrough also scored on a 1-yard run.
Mike Kunzer rushed nine times for 92 yards and a 3-yard touchdown for the Wildcats ((4-1). David Stewart scored touchdowns on runs covering 5 and 3 yards. Marcus Donnadio returned an interception 67 yards for another score.
The Potters (0-5) were limited to 53 yards total offense in the game marked by the return of Struthers coach Mark Asher to East Liverpool.

EL lost a lot when the 2010 class graduated most of the line left and some key skill players. Injuries, attitudes, dismissals from the team have taken a solid team and turned it into one of the worst I've seen at EL in a while. Can't fault most of the players as they are playing hard but most are just inexperienced and got thrown into the fire. In a couple years things may turn around as many young players are getting playing time that should help down the road if they don't get discouraged.
