Week 4: Salem Quakers (2-1) at Carrollton Warriors (1-2)
-
ts1227Salem makes the long, windy trip down Route 9 in their NBC debut.
So far this season:
Salem lost to Labrae in an ugly game, but beat United 24-7 and escaped Niles 7-3 in a defensive battle.
Carrollton snuck by East Liverpool, and got smoked by Dover and Claymont (both good teams)
Salem hasn't exactly shown any offense this year, and the Niles win is good to see, but United seems to suck so that's not much. but Carrollton has only beaten a team that also sucks and has gotten steamrolled otherwise.
Neither team is as good as last year, but I give Salem a slight edge. Carrollton had 2 tough games for the losses, but I thought Niles was a good win for Salem. Of course, I am biased, lol
How about you all? -
LocoEngineer66What kind of offense does Salem run?
If they can pass the ball Carrollton could be in trouble.
We run the ball very well and cannot pass at all. -
OhioSalem by 2+ td's
-
Mrs.MustangCarrollton has a fast QB no.10@RB no.3,but they're small. No pass defense,Claymont burnt them for over 400 yards, but the Mustangs have some good athletes. The same with Dover, two pretty good teams.East Liverpool's down this year so I'd say the Warriors have a tough row to hoe in the NBC.

ts1227I haven't seen Salem since week 1 (been out of town), but their passing game definitely isn't what it was. But, if Carrollton has zero pass defense, it could be bad for the Warriors. Most of Salem's problems in week 1 came from accuracy from the QB (some of that stemmed from zero blocking), and if that is straightened out Salem could hang some points. At the same time, they haven't scored more than 7 points on a team with any talent yet.
Salem has run the spread mostly under Kopachy, but the mobile QB has graduated, which hurts. I jokingly told someone to think of Florida the year after Tebow before, lol. They seemed afraid to pass outside of swing passes earlier this year, but I believe that is slowly going away. Someone who was at the United or Niles games may be able to give better detail. -
LocoEngineer66Claymont passed for 400+ and 6 td's through the air ... we ran on them for 453 yds.
We were 0-3 with an int on our pass attempts. -
ts1227Defense hasn't been bad for Salem. Don't have stats because the local newspapers are garbage and I see no stats in the article online, but when Niles can only muster 3 against them, I feel pretty good there.
-
GoPensCarner looked more comfortable vs. Niles. One thing I liked about the Defense, is that they were swarming to the ball, and I didn't see as many missed tackles as I have in the past.
I'll go with the Quakers in this one. They better win, because I don't see it the next week... -
QuakerOatsQuaker defense has been pretty stingy against the run; I'll go with them to win it 17 - 14.
-
OhioI knew they were gonna beat salem and they will do the same this week.
-
NWIndianNation01Can't wait to see how Salem does in the NBC.
For this week I say they walk away with the win. -
Struthers FanThe defense played well against Niles. Look for more of the same this week.
Salem 21 Carrollton 7
Good luck Quakers! -
GoPensSalem really needs to win this one now...got a PO'ed Marlington team next week.
-
QuakerOats
No doubt, that 'lack of a fumble' call last night was a gamechanger. Hope the ref really did not see it properly because that was a major blown call.GoPens;898170 wrote:Salem really needs to win this one now...got a PO'ed Marlington team next week. -
salemfreakany score updates?
-
ts1227Salem 34
Carrollton 17
FINAL -
GoPensGood win for the Quakers now at 3-1. It's a shame they couldn't put that Labrae game away, or they'd be undefeated right now.
Gotta go in to Marlington believing you can.
Good Luck Quakers!
(I do gotta say, I'm not a fan of that drive to Carrollton. It's going to especially suck for winter sports.) -
ts1227Yeah, unless you're driving a sleigh route 9 in the winter is going to blow. a lot.
-
LocoEngineer66lol .... Route 9 is absolutely horrendous in the winter ... better have an SUV
