Conotton Valley Rockets

I went on a little football odyssey today. Saw the first three quarters of the Harrison Central-Weir game and then drove up past Bowerston to see the second half of the Conotton Valley-Bellaire St. John Central game. True, St. John Central is a bad team and Conotton Valley is not much better. But the few hundred in the stands of a very small no-lights stadium got to see the home side get their first victory after 23 straight losses. And they did it in a big way, Conotton Valley 54, Bellaire St. John Central 6. Even to the point they knelt three straight times and punted late to show some humility. They've been on the other end of these games many times before. So, despite two years without it, they proved they can win with class.

So, even though this post doesn't mean much and most probably could care less about a little D6 school in the middle of nowhere that has one win in three seasons, congratulations Rockets on breaking the streak.

Nice to see them get a win. Even though the administration seems to have given less than two craps about the football program lately, the kids who go out and play do. Kudos to all the kids on the field today for CV, and for all those previous players who stuck it out and kept the program around.

Congrats to the Rockets, well deserved.I've taken in a few games there myself as its right in my back yard,so to speak. My nephew played for Conotton a few years back and they rented portable lights one week so the kids could play at night, good stuff.I love football odesseys!
