Week 3: Beaver Local at Struthers

  • BTrev
Struthers and BL are both 1-1.

After both teams started 2011 off 1-0, both teams were beaten pretty decisively in week 2.

Beaver Local lost to Crestview, 22-43.

    Struthers lost to Girard, 14-45.

Which team will get back on track next Friday?
  • Spread All Day
Struthers. I'm confident that Asher will have a whole new defense out there. Let's hope.
  • Ohio
Zone coverage will not work against teams like hubbard lakeview campbell and girard doubt they will run that the rest of the year. I look for struthers to bounce back.
  • omemorialhigh
what is the rest of struthers schedule
  • omemorialhigh
I found it...time to reassess, cant help but remember when spread said he thought they were starting 7-0....5-5 will be a good year for this team

    Jefferson Struthers W
    09-02-11 Struthers Girard L
09-09-11 Beaver Local Struthers W (HAS TO BE!)
    09-16-11 Struthers Liberty W
    09-23-11 Struthers East Liverpool W
    09-30-11 LaBrae Struthers L
10-07-11 East Struthers W (ILL TRUST SPREAD LOL)
    10-14-11 Struthers Lakeview L
    10-21-11 Hubbard Struthers L
    10-28-11 Struthers Campbell L

5-2 going into lakeview. Lakeview looks bad without Franco, so maybe a win? Pav is a great coach though, so idk. Hubbard looks very good. And Campbell is Campbell. If one game decided a season they wouldn't play 10 games would they?! Hopefully the cats can right the ship this week vs BL

And I dont believe the hype around labrae. Never have.
  • Ohio
Struthers rebounds big this week on a possible rainy night

No clue, i don't think that good though

Right now, joeeitel.com has Struthers ranked 12th in Region 11, higher than any other 1-1 team in the region. A win over BL would probably move them up a spot or two. Jefferson knocked off a D2 school last week, which netted the Cats 5.5 L2 points. Sorry Ohio, but I have to cheer for Jefferson against Brookfield this week. The Cats will need the L2 points.

Should we expect rain on Friday?
  • Ohio
As of now its a 40 percent chance. I still say brookfield has too much for jefferson.
  • BTrev
I picked Brookfield too, but I'm cheering for Jefferson.
  • Ohio
Understandable. With jeffersons schedule i think we will definatly get more points from them then we got from conneaut in years past.
  • BTrev
My guess... JA should be good for at least 5 wins this year. That'd give the Cats around 25.0 L2 points.

Also... the JVs are 2-0, and will probably win this week. The Freshmen are 2-0, and will probably win tonight. And the Middle School is 2-1, with a win over Campbell last night.
  • Ohio
Hope the weather doesnt bring rain tomorrow im trying to see what asher has instore for the playbook this week.
  • BTrev
I hope the rain holds off too, but I should be there regardless.

I really don't even care if it rains tomorrow, as long as it clears up from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM.

The offense just needs to pound the rock. Especially if it rains. Give #6 around 10 throws, but the running game is good enough to carry them to a win against BL. Don't try to get too cute with the offense. That's how coaches outsmart themselves. I'm really wanting to see more out of the defense.
  • Spread All Day
Struthers wins 20-7. All I have to say is that #44 will be a stud.
  • Ohio
Struthers after being tied up at 0 at half went with what worked very well line up and just let the big boy stewart get at least 5 yards a carry... Good bounce back game by the cats off to liberty next week
  • BTrev
There's still too many mistakes being made. Too many penalties...

They could've easily been down by 3 scores at halftime. Some opportunistic D to kill all 3 drives with an interception and 2 fumble recoveries.

It was a good win... definitely not flawless though. Much better tackling tonight. It took the offense a little while to get going, but once they did, they couldn't be stopped.

No more directional punting. Put Kunzer back there and let him kick it as hard as he can.

I don't know where the refs saw the facemask that extended the drive that BL scored on... but oh well.

Not a bad win though. Liberty might be in for a long night next Friday.
  • Ohio
Told you brookfield would roll lol..... Run stewart. Behind shaffer until someone stops it because not one team has done it yet! I look for struthers to just pound liberty away on the ground next week... We need to get tommy some easy completions early to get hom eatablished he was a little dinged up tonight hurting his ane but hes fine not running him at all in the second half was simply to keep him safe
  • BTrev
Yeah. I had a feeling that Brookfield would tear them up.

I agree, they'll need to get Tommy into the game more down the stretch. I don't think he'll need to chuck it around much next week to get the win.

Stewart had 183 yards, according to the news. I'm waiting for the Blitz to post an article with the numbers though.
